This happened to me one time when I was walking around a track in a park years ago. It turns out the bird’s nest was in the tree near the track. I got the feeling that the bird was trying to protect its nest from intruders.
Crows are one of the smartest non-human animals on the planet. They have generational and situational memory. Smart hunters will leave something for the crows, then on future hunts, crows in the area will help flush out prey. If you wrong them, not only do they hold grudges, but their offspring will too.
Crows remember human faces and communicate with one another about people. Most likely this man did something shit to a crow at some point. Just my two cents.
At first I was like “someone would kill that bird right?” But then I saw it breaking off its attacks the second its target looked at it.
