So fun detail. In his room Fat Neil here has a poster of Soldier Boy who is meant to be this show’s take on Captain America. In the newest episode, Herogasm, we find out that Soldier Boy started an annual superhero orgy with Liberty, Stormfront’s original hero persona.
I was so depressed after watching that intro that I turned off the TV and waited a day before watching the rest of the episode. It was brilliant and appalling how they just nailed the way this dumb radicalization happens. No show does a better job of portraying the current degraded state of American culture.
The only problem I have with this scene is stormfront going on public tv saying anti-immigrant talking point as one of the “seven”. Can’t imagine vrought being happy about that. Would be INSANE decline in the hispanic and black demographic for the company.
And after he does the murder, Stormfront and Homelander go on TV to say they are going to donate 10k to a charity owned by Vought in the victim’s name. Like how is that going to help his family out lmao
I thought this was well done, yet I felt they also tried to paint him as somewhat sympathetic and less of an asshole than he was.
Like, he sought out all that shit and kept listening. I hate when they try to do this with like Qanon people. Like no one is forcing them to listen to that bullshit, they are making choices.
I find it funny how this video shows the clear lambasting of the opposing political aisle that Stormfront is doing in this video, which is obviously shown as a component to radicalism, when you’re being convinced that the other side is evil.
They’re being dehumanized to the point where you can’t see the person for the veil of the extreme political caricature that your own side has sold you.
The comments in this thread are so convinced that people on the right wing are evil and that radicalizing only occurs on their side, that they downvote anything that breaks this perception.
They look at this clip and perceive it as only ever being relevant for all right wingers, who they perceive as needing to do some serious introspection until they adapt “better” standpoints, likely being a process that is only complete in their eyes once they adopt their left wing standpoints.
I’m not saying the left wing is worse in the US right now, where the republican party has significant infighting between MAGA and non-MAGA, but this belief that it is simply only the “other side” that has radicalization is ironic and obtuse.
Fat Neil!
I never did trust Fat Neil…
They thought they saved him in the D&D episode, but then it got pulled because of the blackface, thus undoing his salvation.
Should have played d&d with his Community college schoolmates
Jesus this is terrible

God, this was such an incredible bit of the The Boys. A perfect showcase of radicalization in the United States, even down to the podcasts.
And republican viewers are just now in the current season realizing that homelander isn’t the good guy.
The Quartering really fell for the grift huh?
I cannot believe right-wingers didn’t realize that The Boys thought they were the bad guys.
Guy who gets mad online about how the show has gotten “too political” this season

This show does such a fantastic job handling this kind of material.
It’s amazing how they managed to take the radicalisation happening on Reddit for years and put it all so succintly in such a short scene.
Whenever I need to explain how media is a proponent of Stochastic terror I use this scene as an example.
And after he does the murder, Stormfront and Homelander go on TV to say they are going to donate 10k to a charity owned by Vought in the victim’s name. Like how is that going to help his family out lmao
The part at the end where he looked regretful doesn’t ring true. In real life, the selfish rationalization gets much stronger.

Wow such subtle political commentary.
