The beauty of deco art style but with a dark noir detective tones and colors makes for a beautiful sight in this show.
Non of the live movies have been able to capture Gotham correctly in my opinion. I’m not asking for just deco style like in Tim Burton’s movie but also give it a classic 1950-60s detective feel.
What a great show. Now the modern Batman shows tend to lean to heavy on the flashy superhero style where it’s a big city and there is no character in the city.
After the death of Kevin Conroy, I’ve only come to appreciate the value and quality of this series even more. It really was ahead of its time in that it dared to be mature, but not so mature that kids couldn’t appreciate it. I feel like it never tried to be too dark and gritty. But it didn’t hide the more mature aspects that came with being Batman.
It is, to date, the gold standard for Batman by which I judge all others.
Need to watch this with my boys. It was a staple of my childhood. Would be a good gift for them.
Deco noir is such a fantastic mix.

RIP Kevin Conroy, the most iconic Batman for me.
