Thats not the point… you get extra stuff and most modern games allow preload, so you can play immedietly. Still doesn’t stop the game from being garbage though (when it is)
I usually never preorder or support early access practices, but i preordered Elden Ring. I’d be buying it on release anyway. If i couldn’t afford to spend the moneyi wouldn’t afford that after release either. Now i’ll be launching the game when you start your download.
Though to be fair i don’t know exactly when it releases, i might be asleep at the time. So if Steam lets me pre-load it, i can get right out of bed and launch the game.
So op basically won an argument in his own head against a point no one actually makes, then proceeds to convince himself it’s an actual reason.
Honestly I pre order cause I’m busy most of the time and I forget games launch dates so I just buy em when I see em. Some times it’s before release some times it’s long after. I then play when I have time.
ahh cool yet another meme of people on here telling others how to spend their money. If I want to pre order a game. Im gonna do it, If i dont then I dont.
these memes are stupid and anyone who thinks they need to tell people how to spend their money is a moron.
Somebody posted this a while back and it changed my stance on preorders, so I’m going to repeat it here:
Preorders are a consumer’s way of showing appreciation for good prior releases. If a company has an excellent release record where you’ve never regretted buying their games, you should preorder their games to show early interest and encourage them to support the game’s ongoing development post-launch. For these companies the risk of preordering is very low and the perks are nice.
The instant a company violates this trust you should stop preordering from them. The problem with preorders is not ANY preordering, but preordering from developers that should not be trusted to deliver a good product.
Pre-download, early access, in-game goodies, season passes …
And ultimately people have the right to be die hard fans or wanting to be part of the day 1 rush.
Mocking people for pre-orders has to be one of the smallest moral high ground I’ve seen.
I think people forget how amazing preloading is. especially when you have rural internet. If I bought it the day it came out I’m not playing it for a day or two. vs instantly.
I’ll take instantly. especially if it’s a from software game
Here’s an argument: sites like greenmangaming usually have 15-20% discounts on upcoming games. If the title is coming from a developer with a good track record, I don’t mind preordering to be able to play on day one w/ a few bucks saved (usually around $12 usd).
It’s not about scarcity for me, it’s about getting to play new games asap while saving a bit of $.
People like myself pre order digital games so we can play them literally the second they release. Not in fear of there being no copies lmao. It’s better than your physical copy either not showing up on time, or going to a store, waiting, bringing it home, wait to install, wait on the day one patch to download
But… but I’ll get an art book I’ll look at once!
Also you can preload and know your game is ready on release when you plan taking a day off
Digital games can run out though. See ffxiv.
Noone pre orders digital because they think they will run out.

Don’t people preorder to get stuff earlier
I feel offended but don’t understand why…
People with slow internet have entered the chat
Yeah, but it’s gonna come with a few trivial cosmetic items that I’m never going to use after my 2nd hour of game play, so who’s laughing now?
Yeah but what about the exclusive skin that you’ll only use for the first week?!?!??

I’m gonna get the game anyways, no matter what. So why wait for the release day?
Nobody preorders games because they think they are going to run out, in modern times anyway, they preorder for preloads and preorder bonuses.
Steam players: Refund <2hours go skrtttt

This is dumb. It’s because you can pre install it and don’t have to deal with server issues when downloading it after it’s released
Digital keys can run out if the game has servers and the number of copies sold is limited. FFXIV showed that recently.
Back to you, dumb animal.
I mean, do you have a better way to make sure you get a copy
I preorder them because my moneys gonna run out
I’m watching “This week on Xbox” and the guys says, “Tomorrow is your last day to pre-order Elden Ring” as if it’s the last chance to buy it. OMFG
I pre-order games that have pre-order bonuses that I want. If they dont have one then I’ll wait.
Usually that tends to apply more for physical copies, but you dangle a fancy outfit infront of me and I’ll still consider it.

I preorder cause I am going to buy certain games no matter what, so why not?
did it once for Cyberpunk 2077, never again. I learned my lesson
