probably one of the only people that have felt that in real life. when you hear your own song say from Japan a whole new level. was put on a bigger label now.. soon to have stuff out through Sony. Cant wait. worked hard for 20 years for it
This movie’s considered a local classic. Though they didn’t film in Erie, Pennsylvania, everywhere they name in the movie (Mercyhurst, for example) are real places.

EDIT: Also, as a result of this movie, there are innummerable older Erie musicians who insist that they were members of the “real” Wonders at some point. Including my guitar teacher, who is definitely too young by about a decade for that to have been possible.
Woolworth … I remember those. Heck, I remember when Sears was Sears and Robuck and they were closed on sundays … like every other god fearing company in the early 80’s.
I was fortunate enough to be in a band that had our song played on the radio a few times in the Bay Area. I didn’t get to sprint through the streets but this scene did capture the feeling pretty well.
I Ied you here, sir. For I am Spartacus.

This has always been one of my favorite scenes in any movie. So much joy and passion. I love it.
One of the happiest scenes in all of cinema. You can’t help but to dance around to it. (Or at least I do)
RIP Adam Schlesinger. I loved that man’s work so much.
Helps that it’s a genuinely good song, too.
I still prefer Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters
Steve Zahn is so damn good in this movie
I went through an embarrassingly long stint of wearing black mockneck shirts to look like Tom Everett Scott after this movie came out.
I’m an Erieite, born and raised.

I’m convinced that Liv Tyler is the low-key reason everybody loves this movie. The catchy song doesn’t hurt either.

What year does this take place to at they all have earbuds?

Empire Records is the superior music-based film starring Liv Tyler and Ethan Embry
