  • >Terrance Stanley Fox CC OD (July 28, 1958 – June 28, 1981) was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist. In 1980, with one leg having been amputated due to cancer, he embarked on an east to west cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy. The annual Terry Fox Run, first held in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the world’s largest one-day fundraiser for cancer research; over C$800 million has been raised in his name as of April 2020

Hmm I want to live a long and mildly satisfying life but damn going out in such an epic and righteous way seems so right. What an amazing dude who left the world better than how he found it

  • Currently, Canadian protestors are occupying Ottawa as they demand removal of all covid restrictions. Like, masking up, vaxx passport, and limiting the number of group gatherings to prevent the spread of covid.

These same restrictions the protestors wish to repeal, are the self same restrictions designed to protect cancer patients as they go on their regular chemotherapy sessions. The same restrictions that protect health care front line workers from catching covid and potentially spreading it within health facilities that work with cancer patients.

These protestors also claim to represent freedom and look to Terry, a cancer advocate and national hero – as inspiration.

    Ironic.

Let’s lift the restrictions and damn all the immunocompromised to their fate, because I can’t be bothered to put on a fucking mask.

    Freedom.

  • Terry fox is one of the few people I would consider a hero. I tend to tear up when I think of terry or explain why he’s important to people who don’t understand his significance
