Love this and love how cool that ump stays under the pressure of the whole crowd.
Can someone tell me what’s going on/context?
I closed my eyes and all I hear is Bobby DeNiro.
Not knowing or remembering the context here, I would say the crew chief did a good job there. Stepped in so he didn’t have his guy involved at the hot point, and deescalated without backing down.
Everybody in this video did exactly what would be expected of a professional in their situation.
The pitcher showed the other team he has a pair of balls, the manager showed his pitcher he has a pair of balls, and the umpire showed the manager he has a pair of balls.
This is how justice is handled in baseball. It’s not as physical as hockey justice, but it’s all about the willingness to show your peers that you won’t back down when duty calls.
It’s also about knowing when to stop before it escalates into something it shouldn’t be. Every person went right to the edge and then walked away.
Yea I’d be pissed to, Syndergaard was only good pitcher the Mets had.
Ump handled that like an absolute boss.
What was the situation?
I’ve always wondered if an ump has to explain themselves when a player or manager argues like that. Like, could the ump just let the player/manager yell and scream and then just walk away without saying a word?
I’ve never heard anyone say “our ass is in the jackpot” since.
Tom Hallion is the umpire here, he’s very well liked across the league. A great umpire. He’s been around for a long time. He used to be part of John McSherry’s (RIP to another great and well respected umpire) crew.
Wait, was Collins ejected? I know Syndergard was. I hope they never get rid if human umpires. I don’t care.
How do you completely miss the guy though? He missed his chance big time.
Do you think the coaches really get mad or do they just put on a show?
mlb is so fucked
Arguably one of the greatest non-athletic orientated baseball clips of all time.
I don’t think collins was ejected here.
Background?
Jomboy’s lip reading is getting wild.
What I love so much about this is the intense alpha energy from both of them and the shared empathy.
Tf does “RS is in the jackpot” mean?
Can someone explain to me why hurling a 5 ounce rock at 80 mph with intent to hit someone and cause bodily harm is considered a felony outside the baseball stadium, but MLB players just get ejected from games and that’s that?
Why even entertain discussing these things?
What a boring sport
_No-n-n-n-no I mean, ok the situation of what happened, and everything else – that’s what dictates that._
Said nothing and yet handled everything. Boss like indeed!
