Okay, but why do libraries have to store all of the graphic novels, manga, and YA books in there? It makes me feel out of place going there too, I just wanna read some comic books
The Older a dude I become, the more confused and disgusted I become of tons of other men. I’m not perfect, I’ve made mistakes, but I’ve also not found a teenager attractive since I was about 22 years old so i dunno. I’m really happy that, as I’ve got older, my tastes have “refined”. Gimme a hot single women in her early 30s who’s self-aware…Jesus Christ, lord have mercy.
A local library does this too. Teens don’t use libraries so a fad has been to raise money and spend a bunch on a “lounge” with nicer chairs and sometimes free coffee or sodas. It takes up a bunch of room, so they just get rid of books to make space. No teens ever use it and no one else is allowed in. It just sits there, empty, year after year.
For anyone confused, this isn’t to keep creeps out or anything like that. Teens have a tendency to behave in normal teen ways, and for some reason that seems to be an invitation for every adult in their vicinity to attempt to police and control their behaviour under the guise of “performing a social service”. Even if the teens aren’t doing anything that needs to be addressed. I used to work in a very small library and we had a group of teenage boys who liked to hang out in our space after school. You would not believe how many grown men I had to pull aside and explain to them that it is absolutely not their place to “educate” a group of strange children they’ve never met (the boys weren’t doing anything that needed oversight anyways, and when they did, our staff were more than capable of stepping in). But it happens constantly enough that teens don’t feel safe in the space, so the solution is to create these teen-first lounges where staff have the right to tell the “educator” to go to some other part of the library. If you’re just there to browse the collection quietly, no one cares.
“Get off of my Whiteboard!”.
Alright, alright, alright.
“I love the young people”.
Wasn’t a different old fish in that episode? I remember him being thinner.
So how is the old man gonna get his YA fix?
“How do you do fellow young people!”
If you get *really* old, you can get to be a teen again!
There’s something amusing about using a 22 year old reference for the teen only lounge.
So, this is age discrimination, right?
Real life r/teenagers
But that’s where the good CDs are!
All your PC bases are us!
Oh yeah I’m gonna lounge even harder

That reference is too old to be a teenager anymore
Not funny. That’s ageism.
Awesome
Is that OG old man Jenkins?
“Am I out of touch? No, it’s the children who are wrong.”
I hope they have an Old Fart Lounge where kids can’t come in.
Haha, I like this.
Motherfucker, I’m an OG teenager. You just happened to luck into this because two people had a momentary lapse in judgement about a decade ago.
Teens today know SpongeBob? Genuinely curious.

Pedos gonna pedo
This was made by a millennial
Hey, seventyteen counts as a teen, doesn’t it?
Mr. Groove sent me.
What if I’m in my mid twenties and certain YA authors just /get it/ more than a lot of adult fantasy authors?
This is ageism and I’m offended! I want to protest!!
r/fellowkids
“Teen Lounge” but if there’s a book I want on a shelf in that area I don’t care if I’m 25 or 50, I’m fucking going in to get the book.
Tell’em Mr. Groove sent you
or
You kids can’t party in HERE!

That library appears to be using Envisionware’s PC Reservation system for computer use management

Do they just text each other in the lounge
We need to put this in the high school bars
Curious if this is even legal. Can you ban folks from public spaces based on age?
Social pressure may be the goal here. But I am curlo7s if this sign could legally keep Long Island audit out?
What a nice cereal box.
