Have you SEEN pros lately? Orgs failing left and right, game’s being miserable to play, having to play boring ass metas every season.

Heh. I’m better than ever at games and I’m 36.
My younger self was apparently a fucking scrub. I’m currently working my way through the Devil May Cry collection, and I’m stunned by how much easier those games are than I remember. I breezed through all but Dante Must Die mode, which is appropriately pretty damn hard at some points. But yeah, looking back I have no idea how I struggled to beat that game on NORMAL.
And it goes for competitive shit too. Have I lost a few ms of reaction time? Absolutely. But that’s drastically outweighed by my newfound abilities to 1) basically never get tilted 2) actually analyze an opponent and 3) actually understand how game systems work: combos in fighting games, balance decisions in rpgs, etc. Myself now would destroy my younger self in anything except Halo games. Young me was NICE on Halo lol.

When I was in high school, I was the king among my friends at Smash Bros melee. Then Brawl came out and I tried online battles, and that’s when I learned I actually sucked at video games.

I used to be really good at video games until i played online games for the first time and was like “……..oh”

Seeing how amazing some people are at video games now makes me realize I was adequate at best.
I’m older, and right now I play games for enjoyment, vs grinding, achievements, or being really good at them. I bought Cuphead because the retro graphics looked good, and the stroyline was interesting. But damn if that game isn’t hard for me to get through, and I don’t have the time to be such a master of the game. I moved on to play other games, such as Control. I enjoyed playing Control. I wish I could re-gift Cuphead to someone, as I’ll never play it again.
This one hurts…

We get good a video games, golf, music, gardening, DIY, and being kind to others as well as to ourselves.

I wouldn’t call my life awesome now, but it’s gotten better every decade I’ve been alive (nearly six of them.)
Not only has my personal happiness increased, I feel that society is gradually going in the right direction. Maybe not the economy, though. That kind of sucks now. But overall and on average, we have more tolerance, less war and less violent crime. Sure, all that stuff still exists, but it’s been declining for decades, especially if you factor per capita.
I would tell myself to never trust women and get used to being alone. I would also say that if I ever encountered a woman I was interested in and attracted to, to just run the other way and save myself decades of pain from all the rejection. probably i could just say to go move to the middle of the woods in the middle of nowhere as soon as possible. just enjoy nature and wait for death
