we need to rid the world of plastics, paper, anything disposable. Food delivery / take out needs to be reformed so that no disposables are used whatsoever. anything that is “disposable” should be banned immediately.
Less trash! Also, here’s a dress that will only be used for this specific event.
My DIL is Taiwanese, and before we went over to visit her family, she gave each of us a cloth package containing a metal straw, chopsticks, and a knife, fork, and spoon to use when sampling food at the night markets. She has set a great example for us in reducing waste.
I wish the video had shown more about Taiwan’s garbage system. It’s so amazing that I was excited about being in Taipei on garbage day, and I took a video! A fleet of trucks pulls up in a neighborhood with music playing (like an ice cream truck), and everybody comes out with their garbage. One truck accepts recyclables and another one accepts food waste for composting, with a special bin for cooked foods that will be fed to livestock. There is yet another truck for materials that will go to the landfill, but to discourage people from generating that kind of waste, everybody has to buy special expensive garbage bags for anything they want to put in the landfill truck. I wish we did that in the U.S.
Get off your high-horse and piss off!
