What’s most impressive to me is the start-up time. I know micro-turbines have been a thing for a while and I haven’t been following the tech, but I think of the massive amount of time to scramble basically any flying craft compared to this; it’s an order of magnitude difference.
I know it’s a solution in search of a problem but it’s still a cool test of its robustness.
I’m a bit surprised they haven’t developed an arms-only exoskeleton to go along with this yet. My understanding is that you need a ton of arm strength to handle it, and something to support some of that force would make a huge difference in usability.
Hopefully this will translate into armed jet-drones that are able to be piloted by soldiers from a safe distance. Take the 200lb’s of soldier and gear and replace that with ammo/bombs and hand our soldier an xbox controller. Let the other bastards die for their country. Use those jet packs to fly guns and bombs to be used against the enemy. We don’t need guys on the ground getting hurt, send an army of manned drones with that tech.
This is cool but a terrible idea for all but a tiny tiny set of possible uses. And even then Im doubtful.
This isnt a military video. This is a company trying to turn their mildly interesting flight suit into military tech, mostly by tricking stupid officers.
If video games have taught me anything, this guy will blow up if you shoot his backpack.
Why doesn’t this thing just have a shoulder mounted gun that fires from a trigger in the thruster gloves?
Incredibly expensive, impractical toy that will make nobody in this country any safer.
US Government: “How many does $50 billion get me?”

Love these semi-ironman suits!

Oppressor Mk II.
They fly
where can i get it? and can i have 3!
That looks wildly impractical, but objectively awesome. 😊
Looks cool and everything, but you’ll be pinging all over the minimap with that noise
Instead of pretending to be military and marketing to the DOD just give it a Fortnite skin and market it in TikTok, you’ll be trillionaires
I really wanna know what these things are capable of. Could you jump between buildings or would you just plummet as soon as you went over the edge?
Do you want Warhammer 40k Jump Packs? Because this is pretty clearly how we get there.
