There should be a law that any mandatory and unavoidable charge should have to be reflected in the price of the item you are buying.
What is the opposite of virtue signalling caus this is it. They easily could have just folded the cost into their prices without any issue by raising the cost a few cents but they chose to put on a pissy display and grandstand about it like they don’t understand how businesses work. They want to pull shit like this then they won’t be getting my business.
I own a business and provide a service for set price, if I showed up at my customers door and said there would be an additional surcharge, I’m sure I would lose a good number of my customers. Apparently Six Flags feels they are big enough to force the customers to suck it up or leave, what a shame.
Theme parks, cruise ships, music festivals…

So basically an extra 28 million dollars per year in “found” revenue. Not bad.
Why don’t they pull themselves up by their bootstraps and sell more units so they can afford to not have a surcharge?

Price for food and drink is already high at theme parks, are they trying to shift the blame to the employees?
Then just increase the advertised ticket prices. Surcharges are bullshit.
I work at a small family owned park and people always bitch about our prices. I’m like seriously? Have you been to a franchised park recently? We charge $3 for water, $2.50/$3.50 for sodas, $9.50 for a Cheesteak, $6.50 for a Sausage sandwich, $4 for a pizza slice, orders of fried food for $3.50. Last time I was at Six Flags basically all the prices were higher than what we charge NOW. And I think I was there like six years ago.
i.e. we just completed a massive merger and paid our execs, so pony up suckers.
I’ll bet anything they haven’t actually increased wages and the “increased labor costs” is a total fabrication.

Businesses that put out notices like this are stupid. Your customers don’t care and don’t want to see extra bullshit fees. Just raise the menu prices and move on.
Passing the employer’s compensation responsibilities onto the customer is cheating at capitalism.
Don’t give these assholes your business.
Every business has now learned from the North American restaurant industry and realize how unwilling and afraid people are to ‘punch up’, instead pitting the front line workers against the customers. Each is at fault for the other’s misery. Take it from an old guy who works with C Suite executives: they fear nothing more than the unwashed masses. Nothing. NOTHING. If you truly, truly want to affect some sort of real change, you need to (politely and respectfully) go above the front line workers’ heads and talk to managent. They REALLY don’t want to handle your situation. That’s why these posters exist: for management to wash their hands of the situation and avoid responsibility.
Paying workers a fair wage is meant to be a political action other low wage employees oppose, is what I’m getting from this notice.

Show me the price of a ticket in the 90s and today, then show me the average pay for employees.

Here you would need an adjective to describe the labor and supply costs. It would be “increased” in this case.

Ridiculous. It’s the cost of doing business. The only surcharge imo that is justified is fuel if extreme weather or political terrorism knocks out refineries. Otherwise, labor wage is a just another cost of doing business. Sure they would like to pay the young people a 1980’s minimum wage of $3.10. How much does CEO take?
