Thatās why I hated having points deducted for using a different method than my idiot high school teacher would show me. You want me to memorize multiplication tables, but when I do anything in my head later itās wrong. Get lost
It doesn’t matter how you got there, it’s the end result that counts. I can imagine a teacher grinding their teeth and pulling their hair out while marking this as correct though š¤£
Does this apply to any other numbers or were these selected because the math would work out in this specific case? This is fake math unless thereās a generalized solution.
I think this works for consecutive declining squared numbers 4-3 5-4 6-5 etc. 1-0 through idk. I stopped at 11-10. Weird anomaly? Or can someone explain a use?
Iāve been staring at this for several minutes now. I cant even be mad, justā¦ dumbfounded. With this level of sass, you *know* he knows the right answer, and you *know* he just made this to screw with you and I just canāt help but respect it
OK look, I was put on the math class where they taught us how to work out mortgages and analyse statistics but wasn’t taught any of the witch craft that involves making the fancy equation longer just to fuck with normal people.
Can someone explain how he should have done that problem?
He’s out of line, but he’s right.
4^2 – 3^2 = 16-9 = 7… He used a bulshit demonstration but somehow got it right
Say Iām retarded so I donāt know what these nombrays mean

This person’s math is bad and they should feel bad.
I may be dumb but I don’t understand the second to last step
The proof is wrong, but the concept is right:
4^2 – 3^2 = 4+3= 7
5^2 – 4^2 = 5+4=9
6^2 – 5^2 = 6+5=11
and so on
In general:
X^2 – (X-1)^2 = X + X + 1
He pulled a Homer Simpson – “to succeed despite idiocy.”
No no no, ok for the last oneā¦.
The worst part is, this is literally how trig and calculus worksā¦
ā¦ā¦.. damn
“It doesnt matter how you reach the pot of gold, B to the ryan, all that matters is that you beat the leprechauns”
I guess this is one reason why a teacher wants to see your work.
This gives me the same vibe as āname the quadrilateralsā and the kid named a square āBobā
A2 – B2 = (a+b)(a-b) = (4+3)(4-3) = 7*1 =7
Task failed successfully
I take issue with the first step, but everything else checks out.
Fun fact:
This method will work for the difference in squares for any two consecutive integers.
It doesn’t matter how you got there, it’s the end result that counts. I can imagine a teacher grinding their teeth and pulling their hair out while marking this as correct though š¤£
This is a perfect example of using the wrong process but lucking into the right answer
Omg, great answer!
They skipped the first step showing the 2s migrating to the 2/2. Or maybe two steps, they first jump onto the – sign like a see-saw.
So many people trying to offer serious math explanations. Stop!
He turned a negative sign into a positive sign using a number that completes the āplusā shape. Thatās the joke. The rest is build up.
This is the Buster Keaton of math jokes.
Well no, but also yes.

This is how I imagine Neo works his magic in the Matrix.
He knew the answer and had to find a way there.
š±
i’m no math genius but this looks wrong. ah it’s a joke, that makes sense.
I did the math how tho
It’s Actully the right answer though
Bro is 16-9 work smarter not harder
I like the way he thinks
fucking dumb. more steps to the same answer.
Does this apply to any other numbers or were these selected because the math would work out in this specific case? This is fake math unless thereās a generalized solution.
This reminds me of that Abbot and Costello skit. 7 x 13 = 28

That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works!
16-9 is just so much easierā¦
