It’s such an absolute shame how at the height of his success, he fell so violently ill that it almost ended his life.
He was working on a tour across Africa, including going to Rwanda, where his father was from (and where he got killed during the Rwandan Genocide). Unfortunately he reacted very poorly to Malaria pills, resulting in psychotic breaks and suicidal urges. Uncommon, but not unheard of side effects of taking those pills.
I’m glad he managed to get through the worst of it, but from what I’ve heard it’s more about coping with it than getting rid of it entirely.
Stromae is one of the most talented musicians alive today. His lyrics are so deep and impactful, and his range of genres and styles in very impressive. If you have the chance to see him live, you should take it.
Turn Subtitles on for the lyric translation, some beautifully powerful stuff
Those women were GRATING wow that was annoying to listen to.
