I was formerly, sort of, in the TV news field. Right on the edge when most stations were using digital tapes, but Betacam was still around. I loved Betacam. Every bit as good looking as its digital replacements, easy to work with, old tape tended to hold up well. My resume tape is on Betacam….somewhere.
Expensive though.
The big takeaway for this video though was:
When it comes to VHS vs Betamax, VHS was better in nearly every single way and it won the format war because it was the superior product.
I miss the shuttle controllers on vtr decks. There’s just about cueing up a tape!
