I liked Sin Episodes Emergence. Short but a really good time.
Just for info, a source port was released for it recently, which fixes a lot of issues that the original game has. Check it here: [https://cohost.org/rohit/post/3207148-release-dominatrix](https://cohost.org/rohit/post/3207148-release-dominatrix)
Sadly, time will never come back
So few people know about this game, was so good. Had lots of SiN get togethers with PC buddies.
Also the topic of the very first Penny Arcade comic.

Yeah. Plot >:)
Another fantastic game of that time is Soldiers of Fortune – level design, gameplay – it’s one of the best games
of that time.
I used to love the area based damage
Sadly it got kinda overshadowed by Half-Life.
What I find really interesting is how the armour system is location-based, both for you AND the enemies. Instead of filling a bar like most shooters, you’re picking up better pieces of armour to replace the pieces you lost, so if you’ve got a better vest than the enemy’s vest, Blade will say “don’t want it” or “already got it”. And of course, location-based damage was also a factor, though IIRC Half-Life might have had it for the Alien Grunts, since they’d spark if you hit their plated parts.
Also, John Blade and his tech support JC were clearly pastiches of iD Software’s two Johns; John Romero and John Carmack.
