Grew up on this game. Played Sim City 3000 as well. Haven’t played a city builder since then. Are any of the newer ones worth playing? Cities Skylines?
Best part about sim city was you could load your cities into Microsoft flight simulator and whatever the driving simulator was called and fly/drive around your own cities. It was fucking amazing.
Great game. I attended the SimCity 2000 launch party at Maxis’ office in Orinda, when I was 12yo. They gave me a T-shirt and a copy of the game weeks before it hit store shelves. Very cool people. I played toejam and earl with some of the devs.
I remember the days I wasted playing with the Sim City 2000 Editor and create my own map as a Sandbox. Then I’ll upload that box into my Streets of SimCITY and play Deathmatch on my custom built map areas. So much time wasted.
Favorite game of all time.
Whoa this was released in 1993!? That’s amazing for the time. I always thought it was released in the late 90s.
Can you get a legit version of the original PC game anywhere?

For some reason, YouTube didn’t recommend this specific video to me (regardless that LGR is one of my very favorite and most viewed channels).
It’s such a nostalgic game and a very enjoyable retrospective.
I still don’t know how highways work.
Man, that splash screen and music (around the 8:35 mark) was a wave of nostalgia.
Anyone remember Sim Sandwich? From the makers of Dragon quest and Virtual Doctor.
Anyone remember the most popular sc2k city on AOL titled Jurassic Park? That was me
