This game screams Windows 3.1 …
So annoying that a good city had to be built in “blocks.”
Theme park back on consoles was probably my most played game ever, I just loved everything about but for some reason never understood SIM city, was young though and SIM city was too confusing.
This was the best. Especially if you had Streets of Simcity to load in your built towns. The 1 time out of 50 it actually worked? Chefs kiss.
Still the best Sim City.

I had a lazy drafting teacher. Our entire class was playing simcity then the final was our best city. One of the greatest blow off classes ever.

every politician running for office should be required to live-stream themselves playing SimCity. If it’s fifteen minutes in and you’re 1.3 million in debt, crime is rampant downtown, the citizenry is rioting over taxes, you’re agreeing to take in trash from an affluent neighbor just for some positive cash flow, the airport isn’t developing and even Godzilla is looking at the city like “well fuck that”, then maybe we know all we need to know about your candidacy.

I used to play this so much and destroy so many towns. After a couple years I also found an editor program so you could change what the buildings and stuff looked like, as well as a driving version that would load your city and you could drive around in it. It was awesome
And then fly around it in simcopter
I always loved that there was a menu just for disasters.

Figuring out how the hell to get power and water to plots so people actually build stuff through shear trial and error as a kid is very memorable. Loved this game and still have it installed.

This is the first game I stayed up all night playing. It was the night before my birthday and I was an asshole to everyone at my party because I was sleepy and just wanted to go to my room and play SS2K.
I liked SimAnt more.
So I absolutely fucking loved Sim city 2000. I played it a fuck load in high school and I was very good at it. At one point I had made a city that took up every square inch of the map and its core was mostly made up of utopias.
This city was so well designed that I was making more that 2 billion dollars per pay day.
I invited my friend over and showed them my city but my mom asked me to grab something for her. I left the room for less than a minute and in that time my “friend” called all the hazards and saved over all my saves. At the time they said it was an accident. They were trying to stop the chaos or some shit and load or some bullshit reason. I knew it wasn’t true, and it took them about 10 years to admit they were jealous and did it on purpose.
I never touched the game again. I couldn’t. It was ruined for me. I still maintain the opinion that it is by far the best sim city game.

The glory days of Maxis, before EA destroyed them. SimCity on the SNES, SC2K, SimAnt, SimFarm, SimTower… So many hours of my childhood spent in the Maxis universe.
