Apparently written on a night she tried killing herself
*Songfacts*
In the video The making of Colour the Small One, Sia says: “‘Breathe Me’ is about feeling worried, generally anxious. Being overwhelmed by your own inner dialogue and having some sort of conniption fit and potentially doing yourself some harm, then asking for help.”
This tale of anxiety and self-harm was very real to Sia. The very night she wrote it, she attempted suicide by taking 22 Valium and downing a bottle of vodka, something she didn’t reveal until a series of interviews in 2018. In 2010, she again plotted her death, planning to check into a hotel and take all the pills she had. A phone call from an old friend changed her mind and convinced her to get sober, which she did.
At the time, I remember liking it, and added the song to a game playlist. I didn’t really think to look into any of her other work. I was rather surprised years later to hear people talking about her, and hear she was doing well in the charts, as the song didn’t really sound very mainstream.
She’s had some great songs on Zero 7’s albums Garden & Simple Things. TBH it’s the only music of hers I’ve listened to, but her vocals definitely fit well with their funky electronic cool sounds
If only she did make that musical movie, I might like her a little more. It just left a bad taste in my mouth even though her voice and songs are amazing
I remember this song was used for the Amanda Todd video. If you do not know the Amanda Todd video, it was a video made by a teenager about being cyberbully. After posting the video, she eventually took her own life. It was a big deal and still is a big deal as her cyberbullyer was recently sent to prison for 13 years.

This song was also used during the finale of Six Feet Under on HBO. I believe during the last few minutes of the last episode.
[the girl you lost to cocaine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSKbXrm6pOA) is my other favorite from this era.
I remember first hearing this song, as part of prince of persia.
While not as good as sands of time, the story matched quite well with the song.

Her passion, her pain, incredible vocals!
There is just so much emotion in this song. I’ve always loved it.

I find her quite attractive; why is she always covering herself up.
Absolutely haunting…
Great song! In case you haven’t heard it, the Four Tet remix is something else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGdGgnOuMT0
I first heard this song in college as a remix.

She’s such a great artist, I hate that she had to be so creepy and predatory.

Obligatory reminder that Sia is ableist, a massive narcissist, groomer and creep.
Luther Season 1 Finale – Great Song
Sia is such a fantastic artist.
Tits.

RemindMe! 8 hours
KCRW has some good videos. My favourite is with Thievery Corporation. I’ve watched this so many times.

I’ll never forget this song being used in The Totally Rad Show as the goodbye to Steve’s house.
Sia is a pretty good singer.
I cannot get through this song. Not because its bad, it just hits too hard

Check out her performance on Letterman. She slayed and Dave was pretty taken aback.
