I am enjoying the game, but the lack of a town map in the major cities is an issue.
For example, I heard there was a second gun shop in Akila city, so I looked for it, but without and marker to find it, I spent 10 minutes going in circles. Did want to see if there’s a clothes shop, but I got fed up of the town by then.
I have not played starfield yet. I Fallout there is the point on the hud to know which direction you need to go. It is the same kind of deal here? Or it’s like the litteral path you need to take?
Ah yes, my favorite. Games that hold my hand and tell me exactly where to go. Bethesda heard we like their quest marker system so much, they decided to up their game . . .
I’m having a blast with the game. I’m 54 hours in and this Skyrim/Fallout/RDR2 in space meets Mass Effect-game is really fucking addictive.
A map would ofc be nice as an option, but personally I think it has been a lot of fun to explore places myself without too much guidance (hello Elden Ring) and use this scanning function while I roleplay in the game.
I can ofc see why people prefer both, similar to how I love this game’s option to swap between 1st person and 3rd person camera depending on situation.
I’m pretty certain we will see a map mod for the cities very soon tho!
I don’t think it’s hard to find things in this game. I think it’s a hilarious complaint coming from a guy who beat Morrowind as a kid. That said there’s something to be said about a society hundreds of years in the future where you cant find shops on your map.
I understand why people are upset over the lack of an in town map but to me I find that’s it’s caused me to explore more which is fine by me. It reminds me a bit of Morriwinds set up (I’m old) where you had to read things to find them cause markers didn’t exist for that game. I get an old school sense of exploration because of the lack of in town maps and I’ve enjoyed that personally.
I don’t mind it for all areas, but having a map of major cities would make sense and be very useful. If for nothing else but to see the store locations and any faction buildings. I understand not having maps for every abandoned lab or base.
Didn’t know about this feature. Wouldn’t do it naturally as it clusters your UI and forces you to equip the mining laser. But besides that, it would just help you find a quest marker, so if you’re having a hard time finding the stairs when it is above you I guess.
Finding vendors, or points of interest that are not active quest markers is impossible.
The arrows regularly disappear, point you in the wrong direction, or just don’t show up at all. This game absolutely needs a map, and it’s utterly absurd that it doesn’t have one.
I genuinely don’t want a map. I don’t want markers or really any indicators. I don’t want that track that tells me where to go on the scanner either. (Is that an option?)
It’s a game about exploring. As soon as you have a map with icons telling you where you are and where you need to go you’ll miss all things that make it an adventure. Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel that the people arguing for maps, want to go through the game and quests faster. I say slow it down and enjoy the journey a bit. What the heck is everyone in such a rush for?
It’s inconvenient and an even worse ux

While this is true, and I am thoroughly enjoying Starfield, it would be helpful in clearing bases of loot and making sure you didn’t miss any rooms.

Happy to see clairvoyance is back again.
The issue isn’t finding my destination, my issue is enjoying the area. Like, it should not be hard to give a satellite view of the area.
Damn like 20 years ago there was no map or arrows lol. Now people can’t play without them
You cant follow the arrows to find a shop, clown!

I heard they can’t map because it’s procedurally generated. That makes sense?
(Sorry for the English, I’m Brazilian)
I’m sure there’ll be a mod soon that adds a map/minimap.
Apparently wanting a maps is being clown.
Least mentally challenged starfield worshipper
Do these arrows show me where are the hell shops or medic?
These comments make me lose faith in humanity.
It’s like y’all let your brains atrophy into walnuts. Imagine that, having to use your BRAIN to navigate.
Swear to god y’all would never have survived Bethesda in the Morrowind era.

Yeah, the arrows only help if you already know where to go. When you’re trying to find something a map is what you need.

You can like the game and admit it needs a map
Bethesda defense force, assemble!
If only Blizzard has a fraction of the dedicated fandom ready to die on the sword at a moment’s notice.

Lmao “bro wdym it needs map, it has this far worse and less functional feature”.
They lost Google Maps technology during the
colony war. 🫠
Yea it’s not like you ever need to go anywhere without it being a quest… this is so dumb
A game that actually makes you pay attention and learn areas, like games should be, and folks are crying so hard about it lol fucking pay attention

Bethesda got mad at us shitting on V.A.N.S. in Fallout 4 and made it a core feature in Starfield, funniest shit ever
Starfield worshippers are so cringy. Even this whole meme screams of being 12 years old mentally.
“Stop all this handholding, I’m not a toddler!”
“Where am I supposed to go? What do I do? This game doesn’t explain shit!”
Some people should play escape from tarkov and feel what it’s like to have no map or directions of any kind
