I love this weird masterpiece of a show.
Samurai Champloo’s soundtrack still hits different.
Damn, the music is so good but so sad. RIP Nujabes. Gonna have to re-watch the series now.
I watched this at a very young age – I must have been 12 or so.
Without fully understanding the context, I still was moved by this powerful scene.
What an actual monument to storytelling.
In case anyone is interested, the song Nujabes used for this is called **”Affirmation” by Jose Feliciano**. Popularized by the great guitar player George Benson.
I feel like I appreciate this show so much more now that I’ve watched the old Kurasawa films that inspired it. It especially comes out in the fights where getting hit even once typically means death. For both heroes and villains, it’s a flash of blades and someone falls.
I like the dub better, and i am a sub kindof guy
Still the best anime ever made. Love the Edo setting and music. Just perfection.
Damn, this anime was dope as hell.
Can’t put my finger on why, but I love watching this show at like really late hours of the night after I get home from a night out or something. Always gave me late night vibes, maybe cause that’s when it was on during its Toonami runs
