Love this show, it’s a regular rewatch. It’s not super cinematic as much as a stage-play but when it does do things, like that big sweeping dolly behind Octavian at 3:34, fucking riveting.
I don’t think we’ll ever get a show like this again, such a shame as studios are opting for easier products.
This show had everything, great stories that made you connect with every individual, costume, acting, writing, music, mini Rome replica to make it really feel like you were there… You could just see the care and enthusiasm the creators had in the end product.
Sadly humans don’t appreciate work like this till its too late (hence it was cancelled, not enough viewers to justify the cost).
Such a great show. I wish HBO had kept with it once BBC dropped their part if the funding
I finished my biyearly viewing of the series a few months ago.
