She was the Queen. Edit: Her version of “I Say a Little Prayer for You” is a masterpiece.
I often forget that there’s a magazine named Rolling Stone and it always confuses me when things like this come up…
Let me tell you something. In a time when radio was dominated by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Doors and on and on and on… This little lady stood out. She sang alongside them all, she outsang most of them.
True talent, Ms Aretha. True talent.
My favorite voice. And “Ain’t No Way” my favorite song of hers
And for once, the RS is damn right.
Four whole fried chickens, and dry white toast…you better think!
The other day I asked my best friend what she thought the best cover song was because I had Aretha’s version of Bridge Over Troubled Water stuck in my head. Surprised the hell outta me when she said the same song without me mentioning my earworm.
Also didn’t achieve her breakthrough until her 10th album.
/r/getmotivated material!
I’m Ella team.
Hey 19! That’s Aretha Franklin, the queen of soul.
Do your soul some good and listen to her live at the Fillmore with Ray Charles.
Daydreaming
OP gets it.
Actually cool 😎.
I watched her in the blues brothers and knew.
