Loved the Scorpions at the time. Well the music. Homoeroticism wasn’t my thing but for those folks into it more power to them. Diamonds & Rust still works for me after all these years.
I saw Rob Halford at the local record store in the early 90s. I was looking at DJ mix tapes, he was looking at other cassettes. I was a huge fan when I was much younger, so I was starstruck lol. I didn’t want to hassle him, so I just left it alone haha. I hope his record store experience was better that way =)
Rob Halford being a not so subtle gay icon, early 1980s.
Literally everyone in the gay scene back then understood the symbolism of the leather outfit. It’s hilarious how so much of the gay culture became part of mainstream metal culture. Rob is also just an outstandingly sweet man. I’ve met him a few times and he’s so genuine that it hurts. The last time I met him was after Dime (from Pantera) died, and dude had nothing but the nicest things to say about him. He’s an icon for a reason.
Priest is one of my favorite bands. They’ve become a total parody of themselves since reuniting with Halford, and his delivery of the lyrics live is very odd and rushed now, but when they kicked ass they seriously kicked ass. Painkiller is a perfect album imo.
They say you can’t hear a picture. I hear this one very well! The only thing is, if you can hear it too, it might sound different for each individual! From what I hear.
Made the trip to wacken to see him at the beginning of the month, and it was worth every penny. He’s still got it. Hit every damn note. Closed with painkiller. Brought the damn house down.
It was more than epic when he sang as a stand-in vocalist for Black Sabbath at a concert I went to. Was not expecting to see Halford at the Ozzy concert. Apparently I was at the only show it happened it….
Saw them so many times at the Toledo Sports Arena and Joe Louis. Strongly suggest getting the Rising in the East and the Seminole Hard Rock dvds…if you still have a dvd player.
He’s still a metal god…or a Wizard. Saw Judas Priest perform a couple years ago at the River Market in Little Rock, AR. The humidity was of course WAY up making just standing there a miserable experience, but here’s Halford still nailing every note and performing (while wearing varying attire) like it’s still 1970-80whatever.
Him and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Still the metal gods.
He sure was hell bent on wearing leather.

Simon Pegg vibes – heavy metal version

He looks like a gay biker
I thought it was a blonde version of the “The Deep” at first
In the name of Rob, Lemmy, and Ozzy we pray..
Such a copycat, Joan Jett wow 3 that outfit best
“My name’s Gram, like a gram of dope!”
Something about the way he holds that mic seems very familiar…
Went to a Judas Priest concert recently. Beyond metal.
Looking back, it blows my mind people didn’t immediately think he was gay.
Nah, he just turned 71
Still my favorite metal vocalist. Even now in his 70s hes still got it.
Ripper was better.
Just kidding.
Judas Priest – US Festival 1983. Was epic.

Glenn Fricker shakes his head in disappointment.

One life, I’m gonna live it up!

Fantastic Vocalist.
He looks like a Michael Palin character in this photo.
Ahhh, the good ol days of music

Painkiller
Mad love for Judas Priest. Born in 71. Loved little river band. FOUND Metal. Nuff said
“Breaking the Law Breaking the Law”
Back when wearing all that shit meant a lil sumthing to people
You mean “Sean Penn”

I wanna go Hot Cockin’!
Still is, but he used to be, too.
Daddy likes leather

He looks exactly like Tim Robinson
Still amazed “no one knew he was gay.” He’s basically the king of leather daddies.
Leather daddy…
Yes… “metal”…
