Except it will come on 32 individual thumbdrives that you’ll have to swap out at every scene change.
Having freelook realtime rendered Myst was great, I’m glad Riven (which might actually be a better game) is getting the same treatment.
But will it get a Nintendo Switch port with terrible controls? Inquiring minds want to know!
I don’t know if my tastes changed or what. I loved the first Myst, it was magical and a blast. Every sequel after was flat for me.
There was something about the point and click nature of the original, maybe?
No way, do you think it will have VR support!? the first game got VR support, and it’s almost like the game was made for it… something about point-and-click adventures, really works with VR well.
Man VR support on those weird rollercoaster trollies would be awesome.
They got the name wrong.
My god does this bring back memories.
Oh sweet, love this game!
Love to get a remake, the steam version has some major bugs/glitches in it.
In addition to the game, Rand Miller also wrote three books. There’s The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti’ana, and The Book of D’ni. All are fantastic. Highly recommend if you’ve ever played the game. Or even if you didn’t. They’re just good books.
This effort was kickstarted by a grassroots movement that has actually been working for like a decade on it: https://www.starryexpanse.com/
omg i just replayed Myst last weekend and haven’t been able to stop thinking about a Riven remake ever since.
Man, 16-year-old me cheated my entire way through Riven. Fucking hell was that game hard to figure out.
Oh awesome. The new version of Myst with VR was really excellent; from what I remember/have read (was a child at the time) this game is on a whole other level so I look forward to revisiting it!
Remake URU please.
And flesh out the end-game island.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this for literally 20 years.
do the neverhood next
Which brings me to the point of all of this. That linking book you brought with you…
riven: the most frustrating game of all time
With this coming and the new Monkey Island getting good reviews, I hope we will finally see a true return to some classic point-and-click style adventure games.
