Replaying Star Wars: Jedi Knight II – Jedi Outcast after a long time… still an amazing game more than 20 years later.

Say hi to Jan for me.
Mmm, Dark Forces. I spent a lot of time in those early IPs. Wouldn’t mind a new Star Wars FPS that’s more Doom than Dark Souls.
Giving yourself the lightsaber early and changing the realism setting through the console, made this game so much better. Chopping off heads, arms and hands with your favourite colour!
This game and it’s sequel has acrobatics that are still unmatched in modern games imo.
You could wall run on ANY surface. Any at all. Nothing stops you. If it looks wall-runnable, do it and you can do flip or attacks off of it. It was a simple input, just, bam, up the wall.
Get your “You can wall run here and only here” grooves outta here! Jedi Survivor!
I love the game and it’s sequel, but it’s like every game from that era needs a real shorty section and for me it’s that forced stealth section in the imperil base.

Outcast is such a great game
Was so into this game when I was younger. The cheats, the guns all having alt fire, the amazing multiplayer. Force jump 3 and running the flag back on Nar Shadda I think it was was so fun. Putting the lightsaber limb chop mode on. Memories.
The level design has aged horribly.
Both it and Academy are way better jedi game than Fallen Order and Surviver by far. Modern AAA games are just too limiting and obsessed with crappy Dark Souls combat.
It’s a shame that this is the closest we’ve been to a Star Wars game with realistic lightsaber damage and aftermath. Yes, there’s dismemberment (every once in a while) in Survivor but this game had a cheat that not only gave your saber a one hit kill (like it should) but every limb you hit with it would be realistically severed.
Proof that graphics don’t matter: people still enjoying 20 y.o games.
Even better in VR. A custom port was made for the Quest 2.
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy were my mom’s favorite games of all time, every now and again she would reinstall them just to have a little play
Someone talking about Jedi Outcast?!? I had the demo which came with a magazine called Digit. I still have the full version in my pc.
The lightsaber fights were so satisfying
The Jedi Knights combat is fun and strategic until you realize that crouching and attacking with two light sabers bypasses every form of blocking and auto-kills enemies.
This era was the peak of Star Wars games. The multiplayer alone was just fantastic.
I remember in the multiplayer it was customary to bow to your opponent before dueling
I loved using just the force in this and Academy as soon as you could ditch the weapons. So many ways to use the force to get through the game. Good story too. All around goodness
