Remnant from the Ashes is a super slept on souls-like shooter/melee hybrid, raising awareness for the upcoming release of the second game.

I like Remnant but I can never shake the feeling that posts like these are by people paid to post this stuff as like a secret advertisement campaign.
I hope you’re a casual person just talking about a game they like 🙂
Cannot emphasize how awesome this series is. The best part is how involved the devs are with the community and balancing game mechanics to make tons of really diverse builds that all work well. They realized everyone wants to do damage so they cfocused on making all classes different flavors of DPS while still giving them secondary roles like support or tanking to further define themselves.
It’s a challenging co op game that actually scales difficulty well with more players, and the first and upcoming second game have pre generated but randomized locations, characters, items and stories so every playthrough is different from the ground up without being low quality.
The series isn’t really a hidden gem or anything but has a pretty small player base given how amazingly thought-out and developed the series is, if you haven’t played the first I’d definitely give it a go, the devs put a lot of time tweaking it post launch so it’s a very polished and fun experience for a great price.
I know I sound like a hard shill but I legitimately love the series and think people would love it if they gave it a try.
EDIT : some story so it doesn’t sound like paid advertising, I started playing the first game early on back when the ricochet rifle worked on a timer instead of number of bounces so it would randomly obliterate players and bosses alike, good times. I usually ran a close range scrapper build and just wrecked everything with shotguns and melee, though it took a while for melee to reach a good power level but backstepping in melee was always OP.
I wanted to like the first one, but it just didn’t grab me. Played it both solo and with friends—definitely gave it a fair shot. It’s been a while, but one piece of feedback I remember was that the world was super drab, color-wise.
It was such a fun game that didn’t break the bank and had so much longevity.
It’s so much fun to play with a friend. I didn’t really enjoy playing it solo since every single boss fight was like 8 on 1 but playing with randos wasn’t bad.
Absolutely love this game. Highly recommended for people who want to try souls type games but prefer shooters. Randomly generated worlds, great build variety, and unique enemies. Super excited for the sequel, it looks like they’ve only improved.
I enjoyed the world, monster design, and writing. The term “noble septage” was one of many I still remember years later, and from a vicious critic of game writing like me, I think that says something.
Played heavily early on and then none since then, but I have fond memories of it. I guess I never thought of it as a souls-like, though it makes a kind of sense.
I tried Remnant 1 twice, unfortunately got annoyed by confusing level design and kinda bland gear game.
Hoping the sequel is better, because it did try to make souls more casual and accessible
Remnant is such a kick ass game. Been on my PS5 since day one.
I’m looking forward to the 2nd game. I think it is going to be a huge hit and surprise everyone!
The Nintendo Switch port is amazing.
Thanks had no clue a sequel was even coming
I have to say I wasn’t a huge fan and I gave it more than a fair chance, but I also know people who enjoyed it a lot.
However I don’t see how this is a ‘slept on’ game?
I remember this being an extremely hyped up game and a very popular title in its niche, a lot of dark souls related content creators and streamers playing it too.
I checked steamspy and I’m not wrong: this game sold roughly as much as DS2: Sotfs and DS:PTDE, but less than DS3 (going by ‘owners’ metric on steam). I think a lot of people just flushed that game halfway through.
I played the first one and loved it bought a dlc and also loved it and am now super excited for the sequel
I absolutely loved the first game and I normally dont care for souls type games, looking forward to the next one.
Game was alright, my biggest issue was enemies could sneak up behind you without making noise. Don’t know if that was a PC version issue though.
It was slept on because it was mid. I heard the DLC took strides, but souls-like bosses whose difficulty comes from # of trash mobs rushing you per second is just awful.
