Three years ago, almost to the day, I nearly died. A broken artery in my neck caused a blood clot that lodged itself in my brain causing a brainstem infarct (aka a stroke). One month after turning 40. The brainstem handles such nonessential things like breathing and such … I survived although I lost all sense of touch in the right part of my body (I feel lucky that it didn’t mess with my memory or other functions).
Losing the sense of touch doesn’t feel like one think it does, it feels like all nerve endings are firing at max all the time, tingling and numbness mixed with the feeling of being on fire. Fun.
So began the tedious task with rehab to get back what was lost (the brain is a remarkable thing, creating new pathways to replace those that broke). Was walking with a walker the day after and 14 days later I was home, although with a long way to go to get to a 100%. In order to train my hand I turned to gaming and making noises on the guitar. I hadn’t really been playing all that much since the late 90’s (except a little FIFA and Diablo III) so I found myself with a massive amount of great games to play. Was it infuriating screwing up constantly? Yes. But imagine the feeling when finally being able to beat God of War or Crash Bandicoot after that struggle.
So this is where I’m at after three years of rehab and a pandemic. Lots of games enjoyed and 99% of the function in my right hand is back. Take care of yourselves and enjoy life while you can!
I hope you get well much sooner than later my friend ♥️ I must ask, what does this picture represent, fully? Its a list of games, obviously but coukd ya fill me in??
I’m glad you managed to make such a great recovery and to get into gaming through that. Since you got an oculus, I’d suggest you try the masterpiece that Half Life: Alyx is.

Try fromsoft games like blood borne and dark souls 3 , elden ring , you’ll hate thim at first then love them like crazy .
I’m surprised that you had time to play anything else with the combined runtime of RDR2 and Valhalla.
Hope your brainstem is doing better. I’m curious; have you noticed any benefits from rehabilitating through gaming yet?
