I used to respect the PV awards. Now it’s just gonna be between Genshin and whatever mediocre big IP (Hogwarts Legacy, cough) people felt got snubbed that year. Every year. Boring.
I mean I have over 700 hours in Genshin Impact so I enjoyed it what keeps me coming back is they are still even after 3 years adding content to this game.
My only real complaint is the game didn’t release in 2023…. Same with Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, it’s a DLC release not even a stand alone one at that,
The game of 2023 should actually have released in 2023, otherwise have a best Live-Service/Continuing Game, same for best DLC released in 2023.
Couldn’t shock me if they had a thing letting you know as you login that you can vote for them. I know in the past some online games have done this. Making it easier for someone to get to the voting page can usually help you garner some votes, so long as it isn’t violating whatever rules the Game Awards has about that sort of thing.
Let’s be honest here, my dudes. Most of these people are voting simply to get rewarded with gacha currency when it wins, so they can go and spin the slot machine one time for a chance to get their new favorite waifu.
It’s really funny to me how “the game awards is glorified marketing” is the motto of various Redditors, but we still constantly see people get salty in these posts about what games are being nominated.
Eh, I think there is a strong incentive to push for a win on the off-chance there are additional rewards for winning Player’s Choice. I think Mihoyo has said in the past there won’t be, but they can always change their mind tbf.
That, plus I’ve already seen instances of fellow Genshin players using multiple email addresses to inflate the vote, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are crazy superfans out there writing scripts to generate emails and vote for Genshin.
Is it all bots? Definitely not. Could there be a significant percentage of bot votes? Sure.
Not like it really matters anyways. Player’s Choice isn’t an indication of whether or not a game is good, it’s just a popularity contest.
Reddit propaganda has programmed people to automatically assume anything vaguely connected to China is bad. The funniest is when people get mad about China having access to your data. You’ll ask them “Why is China accessing my data worse than Meta selling it?” and they’ll just react like the angry NPC meme.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not remotely pro-china. The CCP are evil. It’s just very funny show stuff that is clearly propaganda works.
I do think they need to rework this award going forward. Genshin is just going to perpetually keep winning as long as it’s still active, it’s community is too large and no other game really has a chance at coming close to it in a popularity contest.
Either do two separate player choice awards between new releases and ongoing live services, or just restrict it to games that actually launched that year.
As a Genshin fan the only reason to vote is because most other fandoms get so incredibly salty. Just look at how the sonic community had a melt down last year
i tried genshin and found out pretty quick pretty much any character i thought looked cool i had to pay for so i just quit. felt like i had to pay to exist in that game
Fortnite has around 200 million monthly player and Minecraft has around 160 million monthly players and they both didn’t make it that far well because, I’ve mostly seen genshin fans actually care the most about it then everyone else honestly
I just don’t get why people care. I actually had to check the list if any of my favourite games were goty. It turned out some got the award and I couldn’t care less. Also why are games not released in 2023 in goty contention is silly. It should be category of new releases and then you could have your yearly popularity contest.
I have to vote for genshin. The absolute and other cope is too sweet. I cant help it. The Sonic fans gave us a taste and now its genshin vote or nothing just for the reaction…
(Wait never mind I voted for Cyberpunk. My point stands tho. Voting for genshin is just objectively the best thing for content tbh. Its also my second favorite thing in that pole)
The people on the genshin sub are talking about voting for genshin because it’s funny. I mean it is pretty funny. Plus, does anyone actually still care about the game awards?

The fact millions of people do something doesn’t make it right or smart or noble
I’m perfectly willing to believe that many real people are hopelessly addicted to the waifu gacha game.
I mean I have over 700 hours in Genshin Impact so I enjoyed it what keeps me coming back is they are still even after 3 years adding content to this game.
Love my anime slot machine
genshin bad ?
Yeah but a weeb’s vote is just as bad as a bot’s

Fat ppl (jk)
[deleted]
80% just accounts that are abandoned who installed it to check it out and leave after day. 10 % active players, 10% bots.

I still dont know what Genshin is.
And at this point im too afraid to ask

Nothing more, nothing less.
Nah, just pedophiles.

most of em are unhinged
I thought it was like Overwatch
Find of odd that Chinese companies are making anime games.
Genshit
Addiction is a horrible thing, ain’t it?

Not even the best hoyoverse game (Honkai star rail ftw)
Vote for Genshin because I think it deserves it ❌
Vote for Genshin because I want primogems ❌
Vote for Genshin because it’ll piss off the haters ✅

It’s so weird people still play destiny when they literally delete content you paid for, but cry about a gacha game scamming people.
I don’t understand why people even care about this shit!
Fortnite has around 200 million monthly player and Minecraft has around 160 million monthly players and they both didn’t make it that far well because, I’ve mostly seen genshin fans actually care the most about it then everyone else honestly
I remember when player’s voice was “the only award that mattered” until Genshin won last year.
It’s also the type of player genshin players are the exact type of people who will vote for their game to win an award religiously

Personally I don’t like the game. But considering the sheer amount of porn that gets generated I’d guess it’s a pretty popular game
