Randy Newman was original set to score Air Force One, but was replaced at the last minute by Jerry Goldsmith. Here’s a scene with the restored Randy Newman score.

I understand why it was rejected.
His best score is Ragtime, children.
This is the strangest curio from Randy Newman’s entire film score career. He’s never scored an action movie before or since like this and material from this score ended up in Toy Story 3. It’s an interesting to listen to on its own and there are some ideas that sorta carry over like the driving snare percussion, but Goldsmith clearly outclassed himself on the action music with Air Force One. Goldsmith and Joel McNeely’s score have far more memorable themes and action melodies, plus the complexity of Goldsmith’s music is far more interesting to dig into given he had such a short time of two weeks essentially to put it together.
Here’s Randy Newman’s original rejected score:

I can see why it was changed, it felt very jarring especially when the violins started playing. I’m glad it was changed, Jerry Goldsmiths score is fantastic, especially the main theme
Ford’s presence made him think it was Star Wars, because that was definitely something I could see coming from Star Wars lol.
This thing sucks
Keepin the N……down
Goldsmith’s score is one of my all time favorites, so I’m glad this was rejected!
This can’t be the intended placement of the music, too much of it clearly doesn’t lineup appropriately. It sounds like someone got an old recording and just synched it to a random part of the film.
I think this probably is a lot less zany if it were edited the way film scores usually are.
Someone’s gotta re-edit this scene with “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” under it
Oh I love Sabre Dance!
