Sailor!
Leonard Smalls!
He got beat up so bad in one fight that they started holding referees accountable for not stopping fights when a fighter just refuses to go down. Howard cossel, the announcer, quit the job after that fight because it was so brutal.
Loved him in Raising Arizona! One hell of a chin as well.
Gimme back that baby you warthog from hell!!
“Sounds broken”
“Most likely”
I remember when he was arrested for molesting a dead horse.
When I was a lad I m’self fetched twenty-five thousand on the black market. And them’s 1954
dollars. I’m sayin, fair price. For fifty grand I’ll track him, find him…
Mongo?
That’s Mr. Over from the Fletch movie. I’ve heard he likes dead horses.
He was on Letterman after filming Raising Arizona. Letterman asked him which he found more challenging- acting or boxing? Cobb replied ” well, when you’re acting, and you make a mistake, they say cut. When you’re boxing and make a mistake, you get punched in the face. Which do you think is more challenging?”
Wow he got in worse shape but looked much better when he was an actor.
“Not bad, blind man. But that butter knife ain’t gonna stop no bullet!”
Decent wideout too
That’s a lovely dog you have there Sir. Mind if I pet him?
Ace Ventura opening credits!
His friends called him Lenny.
Really! i had no idea.
Literally just finished watching Uncommon Valor!
Uncommon valor. An icon
Actually met him at the hotel bar in Philly in the early 90s while on a business trip with some coworkers. Nice as can be and chatted with 3 of us at our table for a few minutes. I remember he was in good shape, on the thin side for a former heavyweight. Also his laugh, was a drawn out ‘good ole boy’ haw haw haw you might see in an old movie or Warner Bros cartoon. Only celebrity I ever met in person and thought he was a good dude.
Uncommon Valor
Had no idea he was a boxer
He was quite the bleeder as a boxer
I once saw this guy trying to kidnap a kidnapped baby
