Rain Song – Zeppelin – one guitar, one voice, perfect atmosphere

  • Personal opinion, but it’s impossible to do justice to The Rain Song on on a solo acoustic guitar. When the drums hit on the breakdown, Robert Plant gives that subtle “Uh!”… the orchestra, and then the electric guitar… it’s all just so beautiful.

  • That might just be the best cover I’ve seen; you’re in the same zip code with the kids that did the Tool cover.

I note (heh) 3 things; your guitar was note for note. I might have been distracted/transported in a couple places, but you nailed that. Your vocals; by that point Plant’s voice was a shell of it’s former glory, and he was pitchy at the best of times. Still, perfect, but here you could have done more perhaps? 3 was more of an observation, and for that, a story to explain.

When I was much younger, I played in the high school band. Our director was a young guy who could already play a lot of instruments, and was requisite. It’s worth noting here that he was a hairy guy. On occasion, when we really nailed a piece, the hairs on his arms and neck, well most everything we could see, would stand up. SERIOUS gooseflesh. I get that very occasionally, listening to and playing music. My gooseflesh says that was awesome, and we would like more please. A+

  • I was stunned by her voice. Didn’t expect that at all. And I love the arrangement that was made to melt the electric and acoustic guitars from the original track.

Does someone who plays the guitar know a link for a guitar pro tab of this open-tuned version ? I learned it in standard EADGBE, from a huge double music score book bought in Canterbury (UK) 30 years ago, and while the version I know is probably more faithful to the acoustic guitar of the track, I wish I could learn this one.

    Thank you very much!
