Good luck!
There’s a [follow-up](https://youtu.be/R_JyDOIWHQk) with an electric bike adventure on the Cali Coast railroad
gotta be annoying leaning to one side all the time
Sad to see how many abandoned railroads exist in the US.
that is quite original, never saw anything like it before
Way cool!
I would definitely ride something like this. Theres plenty of abandoned tracks around NY and PA
I would need a bullhorn attachment with electronic diesel engine and horn simulator.
This is the kind of old man shit I aspire to partake in when I get older
[first thing I thought](https://www.startpage.com/av/proxy-image?piurl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.makeagif.com%2Fmedia%2F3-09-2022%2FZTXW3b.gif&sp=1684323360T3d0228f3463294859c472e5d31f9c2950f191ae5bffc429cca1cece79958259c)
100% saw new Brighton cliffs
Great until someone else has one and is coming the opposite direction
The only downside is that you couldn’t listen to music because of the constant fear of a train sneaking up on you. In this guy’s case he’s riding on abandoned tracks so it’s not as big of a concern outside of ghost trains, which as we all know, only rise at night.
Uk person here, central coast? How can there be a central coast? I get west, south and east coast. Obviously Canada is north so no north coast, but how is there a central coast? Can someone explain.

Surprise motherfucker!
So I know people who work for a railway. Apparently they had motorcycles or bikes like this to do their maintenance. Apparently sometimes they wouldn’t get it off the track quickly enough before the express train came through. They’d then be docked like $20 for the bike and have the shame of needing to get a lift back.
[Can’t do this in Ohio…](https://www.thedrive.com/uploads/2023/02/17/ohio-railroad.jpg?auto=webp&crop=16%3A9&auto=webp&optimize=high&quality=70&width=1920)
This screams Cal Poly engineer lol. Really cool though
This contraption is identical to something from a 1986 Australian film called ‘Frog Dreaming’, released in the US as ‘The Quest’ and in Europe as ‘The Go Kids’ (I believe), starring Henry Thomas, aka the kid from E.T.

I have to think this guy watched that movie as a kid, and it inspired him. God knows I watched it a hundred times.
When I say it’s identical, I mean even down to how the front bit flips down onto the track.
Several places to do this in Oregon:

ah sick, he added train-ing wheels
That is awesome!
In the late 1940s, my dad used to drive his car on railroad tracks. The trick is to let air out of your tires so they deform to fit around the rails. He did this to tune his carburetor.
He’d take the hood off, get onto the tracks, and then get the car going as fast as it could in top gear. He’d put a weight on the accelerator, then climb out the window and onto the hood and adjust the carburetor to get the highest RPMs. When told this was insanely dangerous, he’d say it was safe as long as you held on tight and didn’t let go.
I saw this in a movie when I was a kid and always wanted to build one. The kid from ET was in this Australian movie called The Quest / Frog Dreaming (1986), where he built one of these and raced it through the town to beat the record.
https://youtu.be/JtbF1Js2LP8 – race starts around 9 minute mark. But the movie starts with him modifying the rig. Unsupervised kid with welding torch stuff 🙂
Wow
Surprisingly good condition for abandoned railroad. No vegetation or overgrown bushes or anything
Love the concept and customization done on the bicycle.
Genius
This is fantastic! Is there a map of abandoned railroad tracks that haven’t been converted to rails to trails? A map of tracks and their quality would be fantastic.
Sweet! Not sure why he needs a full suspension bike though
