Their US televison debut, and Conan’s very first musical guest
Love that band
I was there.
The best years of my life go by, and I’ve never seen this clip before? How could this happen?
Strong Ed Grimley vibes.
Damn, that was intense! That shout/scream at the end was insane and in tune
it’s crazy to think that radiohead could’ve been an opening band for nivana in ’94
God I love Tilda Swinton.
Amazing they were also their first musical guests. What a huge start for both.
this was my time. and i cannot believe it is already 30yrs ago. it is like when i was a small kid in the 80s and i watch my father play 50s and 60s music. probably felt the same.
The Hollies: ………WAIT A MINUTE!!!
Scott Tenorman must die!
Is this now dad rock?
It’s a great performance, love it – but I’m quite sure Radiohead are cringing at this.
Seeing Thom with long hair brings back some memories. lol
Can’t think of Radiohead without thinking of Cartmans chili.
I always connect 3 creep songs one from TLC, the Stone Temple pilots and this one all came out about the same time. This one being the best.
I saw them in late 93 or early 94 at a tiny club in Gainesville (Go Gators!) when they were the opening act for Belly. Creep was big on MTV at the time. Radiohead played a decent set, but Belly really thought they were above such a crap scene and phoned it in. Their singer got mad when people tried to sing along with her. I think I paid like $10 to get in. Good times!
wow, what a hairdo thom. incredible performance
A mere 4 years later they’d release one of the most culturally and aesthetically significant albums of all time. Who knew
This and their next performance on Conan (Fake Plastic Trees) might be my two favourite live recordings of those songs
She run, run, run, run
# RUNNNNNNN
Incredible introduction to the masses – sorry I missed it. I (M61) discovered these guys way too late in life. Creep is in my top 10 all time.
By coincidence, I was just listening to Conan being interviewed recently on the radio here in Ireland. He was talking about running a live show and the difference between a great night where all the jokes land and the guests are great, and bad show when it doesn’t work out so well.
He actually namechecked Radiohead as the band in his hypothetical great night where everything goes down well with the audience, and he’s buzzing with excitement after it.
I didn’t know they were actually the band on his first ever night.
Conan was 30 at the time… fuck.
