Simply on another level!
The first time I ever took mushrooms I was introduced to Live at Pompeii and that opening track and it was spiritual. Anytime I listen to echoes I have happy memories
Probably my favorite song of all time although atom heart mother is quite something too
When mere mortals became like gods.
Fun fact: Somebody paid four million dollars for that black strat. Imagine saying “this is the guitar that unleashed the kraken in pompeii”
Although for me Nick Mason was the star of this film. That man is a monster.
I had a video tape of this that I wore through. I played it hundreds of times.
What’s interesting lately is that when watching the new Beatles documentary, Get Back, they talked over and over about having a concert in a stadium like this. It wasn’t Pompeii though. I just wonder if somehow the ideas are related, like Pink Floyd heard the idea and decided they liked it, or it was just their own. Either way, it’s brilliant.
I wish Rick Wright sang lead vox on more of their songs
