Phyllis Pearsall (née Gross) was the trailblazing creator of the Geographers’ A-Z Street Atlas.
In 1935, Phyllis realised an up-to-date map recording London as it was then was needed, helping to bring the title to life by trekking around 23,000 streets of the city on foot. The result – an indispensable and best-selling guide to getting from A to B (to Z) in the capital and beyond.

This clip is from Daytime Live, originally broadcast on BBC One, Wednesday 28 February 1990. She is 83 in this interview.
