This is what I don’t understand. In SG, practically all bridges or overhead structures have height restrictions of 4.5m and vehicles higher than that require police escort.
Edit: How is it that US gov continue to spend enormous sum on military spending and not a fraction more on maintaining and developing infrastructure.
Speeding right thru the red light and just kept on going after the damage. Driver has no regard for personal responsibility. I see this bridge posted all over and it’s amazing how many are running the red light when it happens.
On low bridges in the UK they normally have a metal structure with chains dangling down further up the road. If you hit the chains you are going to hit the bridge. They also have laser things on poles now so if you break it there’s a sign telling you to stop.
I don’t know why they even bother presenting the clearance as 12’4″ as if inches will make the difference. We should really just have two measures for clearance, 10′ and 12′, and we should use them to exaggerate how short it actually is because its just a means of safety.
When I was 19 (40 years ago!) I was a cable guy. One day I my boss let me drive the bucket truck. This was an honor for a new cable guy; the n00bs had to drive around in Ford Rangers and use ladders. The bucket truck was a luxury.
As I neared the bridge, the yellow sign “8 – 6” flashed in my brain but made little impact. As I neared the bridge, my brain suddenly registered the information.
I hit those brakes so hard my foot nearly went through the footwell. The bucket truck screeched and swerved to a stop about 10 feet from the entry of the bridge. My heart was pumping so hard I thought I was going to pass out.
I sat there in the bucket truck, dazed, while Jersey driver honked at my stupid ass. I eventually backed out and turned into the park to find another way into Metuchen.
All I could think about was that massively expensive bucket getting destroyed, my boss firing me instantly, and me living in the streets.
Fortunately for me, the “8 – 6” registered in my brain. I’m sure a lot of folks behind the wheel of a tall truck similarly fail to make the connection.
That said, I still find 11foot8 Bridge to be hilarious.
OK, it’s old, says the comment section. This peel, though, was so epic; so picture perfect. I hope the driver got a raise and an award for this. BTW, why does anyone stop? Clearly the best course of action would be to pretend it never happened and then act surprised when damage to the vehicle is pointed out.
This bridge and area are just typical faulty design. Raised the rail, because the stupid fuckers put a sewer underneath. Instead of fixing it they would rather spout excuses and blame only drivers. You would think that if it was a habitual accident zone they would do something more effective than raise it 8 inches. Awful, will always be awful.
Oh no, is that bridge *still* fucking at it?
And he just kept driving like as if he didn’t notice it
It’s like this bridge was a can opener specifically made for this truck lol
Logistics 😭💀
Dammit, now I gotta watch the [Dunkey video](https://youtu.be/7pO39Sh6THg) again
[deleted]
They need to install [this system](https://youtu.be/ImU1mG7QC4I?t=73)
So if the bridge is 11’8″ why do the signs say 12’4″?

You can hear the brakes moments before it happens. He knew he fucked up.
Just a little off the top please
maybe they should lower the earth
Is just like opening an actual large can of sardines
No bridges were harmed in the making of this video.
So clean a removal! Needs to be reposted on r/oddlysatisfying
Did the driver not notice?
And never understood what they didn’t put some type of swinging bar like they have a parking garages way before you Even get close to the bridge.
They probably should just lower the bridge instead to only allow cars.
And just keep on driiiving. Nothing happened ^^
So he just kept going? Lol
Tis but a scratch!
I hope the youtube channel pays for the repairs.
They could really use one of these though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImU1mG7QC4I
When you ask for just a little off the top….

They need to force the railroad to raise the bridge by a foot or more, and compromise by lowering the underpass by an additional foot or more.
They raised it a full 8 inches, and it’s still not enough.
On low bridges in the UK they normally have a metal structure with chains dangling down further up the road. If you hit the chains you are going to hit the bridge. They also have laser things on poles now so if you break it there’s a sign telling you to stop.
Clearance warnings clearly say 12’4″. If it’s really 11’8″ who’s fault is it this keeps happening?
The best part about this channel is the merch they sell sometimes includes pieces of the trucks that get torn off.
It helps to know the dimensions of your truck when youre going to be driving thru towns and cities.
Why don’t they lower the street?
Hope I’m not the only one that laughs at this shit. 😂

Just start taking licences away and banning goods traffic on that road entirely.
They’ll soon learn when they have to go 20 miles out of their way and/or lose their livelihood and ability to drive.
My favourite part was the way the driver just kept going afterwards, lol.
“It probably wasn’t that bad, I’ll just keep driving.”
i like bad bridges that’s my fuckin problem
I like telling this story…

I was driving through Roosevelt Park in Edison NJ, onto Parsonage Road. It was specifically [right here on Google Maps.](https://www.google.com/maps/@40.5539382,-74.338206,3a,27.6y,305.88h,89.82t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sBlN7lPS5ZCUfBPojRpdnzQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192)

Shear the load.
The fucker didn’t even stop to check the damage!
jesus christ just dig the road lower how is this still not fixed?
