Jesus imagine living without google… I bet these people still used askjeeves
I’ll take whiskey and tea please.
Man, why did they cut the last guy off? I was intrigued by the old sweaty sock remedy.
I wanted to hear the smelly sock one, sounds legit
Bob Mortimer at the end with the best advice as always.
Advil Cold and Flu, lots of water to stay hydrated, get lots of sleep, and eat good. Not much you can do to make the flu go away but Ibuprofen and Pseudoephedrine mixed in the Advil Cold and Flu goes a long way to prevent it from getting worse.
The Ibuprofen reduces inflammation in your sinuses and lungs and the Pseudoephedrine keeps your nose and lungs clear, that prevents you from getting sinus infections and chest congestion and you get better way faster. I’ve cleared up most the symptoms of a cold/flu over 3-4 days this way vs the typical week or two.
Ah, so…whiskey, whiskey, and…OK, also whiskey.
Ahhh. Whisky for the cure.
Fun fact: Most of these people interviewed were still in their thirties.
Hmm… rum punch.
I am a great believer in large amounts of whisky or just a few honey, lemon and whisky drinks
Man. Gotta’ feel bad for the dude at the end whose Mom was the fan of employing an old sweaty sock in her remedy.
*crying*: “Aww, no! Ma’! The sock again?! Why?! Timmy’s ma’ & Bessie’s ma’ give them whiskey, & bacon!”
Idk if it would work for the flu, but when I had covid, the body pain was taking me OUT. I was maxing out on Tylenol and ibuprofen and didn’t know what to do, it was so so very bad (and I have a high pain tolerance). I finally took a gabapentin just to see (I have a prescription) and the body pain just poofed into thin air. It was wild, can’t believe it helped. So if you have access to gabapentin, it’ll at least help the body pain 🤷🏻♀️
A Hot Toddy or two is always nice when sick
Onion syrup! My dad made this for me once when I had a bad cough. It helped me sleep.
I, too, am a big believer in whisky.
Asking English people a question completely unrelated to drinking.
Q:“Hello sir how do you think the economy will suffer under th-“
A: ALCOHOL. PINTS. PISSED.
Big Pharma stopping the secret truth about the medicinal benefits of sweaty socks getting out.
The lady with the boiled water had the right idea to be honest. A good breakfast – yup, needed to fuel your body to fight the illness, and continuously hydrating also helps a lot
My mom used to make me that onion syrup. I like to think it worked because it’s tasty (and sweet mostly).

Let the games begin
As an Englishman I can tell you up north we use something called a Hot Toddy. Fresh lemon juice, plenty of honey, hot water and a drop of whisky if your feeling up to it, you can also add some fresh ginger in it as well.
It’s been proven to work as well, honey, lemon and ginger are all amazing for the body and help fight off infection.
Edit: just wanted to add the origins of the Hot Toddy as a little extra juicy info.
The Hot Toddy originally started in India (controlled by the British at the time) in the 1610s and was derived from the Hindi word “taddy,” which translated into a drink made with fermented palm sap. Fast forward to 1786, where the word became official and was defined as an alcoholic drink made with hot water, spices, and sugar.
I literally wish I lived in this time. Now that I have learned alcohol causes as much cancer as cigarettes, I can’t unlearn it. I wish I could go back and just live!
they’re all so polite
They don’t call it Grandma’s cough medicine for nothing.
“ Well, I’m a great believer in whisky.”
Make an onion brown sugar syrup, turn that into an old fashioned with Angostura bitters and a spot of whiskey. Brother, you got yourself a jolly good flu remedy.
