I know that, its when youre so determined that youre gonna beat something really hard and you just will not let go. If someone suggests that you go against your self-set challenge they arent as determined as you. This is not meant to look superior, i can absolutely see why that behaviour isnt optimal, but someone suggesting to lower the difficulty simply doesnt get the point. This can be read in quite the arrogant way, but it really isnt intended as arrogant.
I normally agree with this until i played the new horizons update on Sonic frontiers.
The towers you have to climb to fight the final boss was a nightmare. With no checkpoints and absolutely absurd camera controls, coupled with the wonky physics, I’d often get halfway there, do a homing dash, then fall all the way back down to the bottom because the game was like “nah i didn’t like how you pressed that A button”
Turning down the difficulty for those towers were a godsend. The moment i finished them, though, difficulty turned right back up!
mk9 reference?
This is my situation with horror games like Amnesia: The Bunker. I wanna beat it on hard but I know I’ll be too scared to finish it.
Undertale genocide route, except you cant lower the difficulty ☠️

Wtf is wrong with his eyelids
So original!
We play on hard because life is hard.
It’s worse when the game suggests you turn down the difficulty after failing too many times, it feels like mockery
This is why I go right to easy mode without a drop of shame. I’m enough of a failure in real life.. Don’t need to add video games to that

Playing on hard mode isnt a matter of enjoyment. It’s a matter of honor. Of pride.
