So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…
This is kinda crazy. A friend had to move there for a few months because his employer was setting up an office. At the time $300 a month was renting him a really nice apartment in a place with it’s own gym and pool.
Wages are really low there. So $10 for a small bag of onions is nuts.
Stupid ass government and stupid ass people who voted for said government. Some idiots reason that it’s because we’re exporting more expensive fertilizer due to the war. If that’s the case, all vegetables should be at an all time high.
So i tied an onion to my ~~belt~~ neck, which was the style at the time

Despite 12K comments here, I don’t understand. How can there be a shortage of something that is one of the simplest and fastest growing vegetables?
