I really hate this mass produced Netflix anime art style. It’s too fake. It’s too computerized. It’s like the uncanny valley but for anime instead of faces. I get that it’s likely wildly cheaper and that no one does the hand drawn stuff anymore, but Netflix somehow does it worse than everyone else.
Man, not this fucking ugly animation again, I hate watching this shit, why didn’t they remake it edge runners or league of legends animation series style
I had completely forgotten that Onimusha was a thing.
This looks decent and, hopefully, is good.
The trailer’s choice of songs was…not ideal. The lyrics might fit but the song itself doesn’t match the atmosphere the show is presenting nor Onimusha in general for that matter.
At first I was just lit because I thought they were animating Miyamoto Mushashi, the historical figure.
Honestly the manga is great and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys slowburners with a lot of philosophy. Mushashi is basically the man who codified the badass samurai, whilst also being my overall favourite philosopher of all time. Only Diogenes is close in my mind.

If they manage to capture just a tiny bit of the man in this animation I’ll watch it
People are complaining about the the animation, but it’s 2D animation done over some 3D modeling. Thera are still 3D animators working on this. Watch corridor digital when they talk about Chainsaw Man, it’s the same thing. It’s like a filled in wireframe they draw over. It may be considered a shortcuts, but it adds more realism to the animation. I’m still see a lot of traditional animation in this trailer at well.
But, this is reddit, so there are people that just hate everything.
**Onimusha is one of my all-time favorite game series ever made.**
The first installment of Onimusha is genuinely a ***masterpiece***. Truly *incredible*—story, gameplay, graphics, music, atmosphere… *everything* for its time.
This is freaking heartless.
I would rather have never, ever known this *even existed*, honestly. What a sad, sad use of the *”Onimusha”* name and intellectual property. **A total cash grab.**
The music, art style, choppy animation, and obviously corny (and different) story… just… god… *throw it in the trash.*
I say this as someone that has played the games over and over again (and I *rarely* replay games), owns/owned all of the collectors art books and special editions, and *LOVE* this series:
I really dislike these new netflix adaptations/remakes of anime and games I grew up with using this 3D modeling (Trigun, Cyborg 007, Saint Seiya,…the list goes on). It feels uninspired
according to comments im the only person hyped for this. i fucking LOVE the animation style and Takashi Miike is a literal film god in Japan. he has hundreds of horror movie credits to his name.
CG + cell shading looks like absolute garbage. These studios need to stop it. Everything thats coming out lately looks this way and its almost unbearable.
How does it feature an actor that died in ’97?

This was one of my favorite games growing up, I’m interested to see what they do with the story- looks different for sure
Baffling choice of musical accompaniment, totally does not fit what’s on screen.
Seeing Musashi getting officially animated is unreal!!!
Is this honestly supposed to be onimusha? 😟

I appreciate a good juxtaposition between audio and visual. But that song choice was absolutely terrible.
This looks great and and am a happy this exists
But seeing that it’s in 3D animation is disappointing, it looks rigid and looks like a game.
Vagabond being such a beautiful detailed manga deserved for the animation to be the same tbh
Takashi Miike? yup, I’m gonna watch it.
This looks like that AI rock paper scissors video. Cheaping out on paying actual animators to get garbage out.
I had no idea there was a game in this.

They really went out of their way to choose the most generic unrelated music possible for this trailer.
There the name Onimusha and Takashi Miike attached to this, yet this trailer didn’t feel like neither.
I wish they stopped with this cappy ass type of 3d animation too.
What a disappointment.
How is it featuring a guy who’s been dead since 1997?
# I… I am gutted.

# This looks like garbage.
I only played the first Onimusha game, but I beat it like 40 times lol this look pretty cool even with the art style choice!
I AM FORTINBRAS!!
Takeshi Miike Directing anime? Has he done that before? That was a good trailer. Not sure on the animation in parts though.
Its been a long while since I’ve seen a trailer that good.
was takeshi kaneshiro not available?
I really dislike these new netflix adaptations/remakes of anime and games I grew up with using this 3D modeling (Trigun, Cyborg 007, Saint Seiya,…the list goes on). It feels uninspired
So I like the trailer but I feel like it just spoiled every major plot and cool moment of the show? Am I crazy?
I hate cell shaded 3D animated anime. Sure, some stills look good, but as soon as anything moves it all goes to shit.
thats not takeshi kaneshiro
What’s this James Blunt-sounding trash playing over it?
Looks like every other anime.
My God, I hate this artistic style of anime. It’s so robotic and Stiff that I cannot watch them at all.
Don’t know what this is based off but it looks great and the music choice is fantastic
according to comments im the only person hyped for this. i fucking LOVE the animation style and Takashi Miike is a literal film god in Japan. he has hundreds of horror movie credits to his name.
Pretty cool. But have you watched the intro to Onimusha 3: Demon Siege? 🐐
I read this book every 3 years it’s incredible
as excited as I am for this I need to go watch kenshin tsuiokuhen to wash that trailer music out of my brain
Can’t wait till they get Jean Reno time traveling to take on Nobunaga and explore a magic castle
