I didn’t fully grasp that these were real until I was 20 years old and lived with my aunt in Albuquerque for a few months. My previous experience with tumbleweeds growing up in Florida had been roadrunner cartoons.

I thought these were just made up for cartoons until I drove across the US years ago and saw them on the highway.
