Drunkard mentally and physically abusing his wife to the point where she aborted and out of desperation struck a deal with literally children eating monsters?
A small portion of the main story with the conclusion being optional side content still telling a high quality and interesting tale is amazing and difficult to come by with some games.
Christ people on this sub starting to really farm this damn quest line like it’s the new coming of Jesus himself.
It was a fairly good quest story for an open world game which is a very low bar.
And it was a fairly good story in Witcher 3 which is, too be honest, a very good fighting game with a lovely open world but with a giant puddle for a story, as in it just keeps spreading out and going and going and going but for the most part has almost zero depth to it and is faaaar too referential to events from previous games with no explanation.
Compared to any story centred games this quest is rather tame, certainly not to shining beacon of hope to game design this sub is trying to pretend it is.
Hey I just spoke to that guy! Started playing Witcher III 2 weeks ago and I’m about 50 hours in. I seem to always be broke though! Any tips on earning some real cash would be appreciated! Seems all these quests pay DICK!
I wish I could experience this for the first time again. It was such a crazy story of unfolding a mystery leading up such a heart wrenching end. The Witcher world is a tough place to live and not everything works out perfect. Love that
One of the hardest hitting for sure. It left me confused, ashamed and hurt. Sometimes there just isn’t a happy ending no matter how good your intentions are.
Man I can never get into the Witcher 3, Everyone praises it so much but it’s so damn boring and uninteresting not to mentions it’s gameplay and controls are pretty clunky these days.
I loved so many stories in the Witcher but this one never pulled at my heartstrings like it seemed to do for so many people. Like Vaas from Farcry 3, it seemed so played out. Have you folks watched a movie? There are so many great characters and stories in video games and the perceived shock value doesn’t grab me.
The reason he’s such a good character is because of his set up, they crafted an entire town to basically reflect his personality, much like a world boss in other games where the boss is reflected in all aspects of the region, except with the Baron, he is visibly his own worst enemy, the tone is that this army he has created is on the edge of devouring him and running wild, he is in the midst of the worst blows life has ever dealt to him, he’s just beaten down, *fucked up* and cannot be rationally saved, it’s as if the player is forced to watch the Baron and his family be ripped a part piece by piece by a monster far beyond our capability to subdue.
Even when the Baron is gone the town still wears his influence and yet in the men his influence is gone.
Then, we become confronted by this monster later on in the Crones, an enemy just utterly beyond any hope of rooting out, literally engrained into the lives of the people themselves… We are essentially not just confronted by the Crones but by the nature of humanity itself through the Crones.
The games narrative forces you to recognize that there is just this element of humanity that is more monstrous than anything Geralt has hunted and is well beyond any measure of confronting or tool to weaken, to the point where most of these people consider Geralt himself to be a monster… They only recognize his humanity once he has done a service for them, for the most part and in this you find Geralt having a commonality with just a normal human being in this world.
Am I the only one who had absolutely no sympathy for the Baron? He was an abusive asshole who drove his wife away, and then selfishly tried to force her to return.
I will never understand how people got through the Witcher games. They’re so clunky and repetitive for me I just can’t do it, and I’ve tried so many times.

Really good story
The Bloody Baron of Witcher 3 – for those who don’t know who this is.
I found the darker conclusion to that story to be more fitting. There’s no happy ending to a broken home.
I always loved how dtailed the textures of some character are. Especially the leather cap he wears looks damn realistic
ngl i kinda felt good when this guy killed himself.
Kind of felt bad for this guy but things finally caught up to him so…

Totally!! It was the quest that first amazed me of the game and the first one in my gaming history that made me realise how deep a game could be.
I remember playing, thinking, “why do people watch HBO shows when games have better stories?”

I was actually happier when he killed himself. He was evil, and his ‘love’ was toxic and festering.
ETA: ARE THERE SERIOUSLY BARON APOLOGISTS DOWNVOTING
That man is evil and the only truly sad part is that his wife dies in that ending. She didn’t deserve that
I loved the crones aswell, much because they’re creepy af and have good “villain” theme
Edit: I remember just delaying answering them just to listen to this https://youtu.be/SiyOajnJnTg
the witcher 3 😳😳😳 hidden gem for sure for sure
Still such an amazing game and a fun time.

M O R A L L Y G R E Y
Is this the daddy of the demon baby?
It was fine.

I really can’t wait for the next gen version of this game to come out. Hopefully as a free patch as well.
I 100% agree.
I recently started playing Horizon Forbidden West and they have some really good side quests as well. Made me think of the Baron.
No it isn’t. You’re just karma whoring.
it’s such an amazing first major questline for the game
This is my best game ever that I’ve played, what a masterpiece
So damn tragic. Never had a clue till the end.
Also the most depressing. Every time I play through the game. This side quest is H-E-A-V-Y
I like the bit where he’s so stunned by Ciri teleporting and killing the Basilisk that he has trouble sheathing his knife.
I’m about to start a Death March run. Any tips?
…Are we allowed to know the game?
One of the hardest hitting for sure. It left me confused, ashamed and hurt. Sometimes there just isn’t a happy ending no matter how good your intentions are.
This story and gears of war 1, when he finds his wife and she withers away are the saddest moments in my gaming history
Bobby b really let himself go
Epically tragic

man. are we still milking the baron?
The rat plague castle was also great
If you love this, play HoS
What’s the game?
Yes cool story and all but most importantly… Fancy a game of Gwent?
whats the game?

Velen area was the best part in The Witcher 3, and likely the only one in which the story was actually good.
Cause The Witcher 3 is the only game zoomers have played.
Witcher 3 is truly a masterpiece
Good thing you Said what game it was
. Not , I don’t really Care.
