One of my coworkers who used to like Dilbert was surprised to find out Scott Adams is destroying his own brand. He sent me this in response.

Why funny?
Imagine having a wicked easy go of it and then deciding you’re the biggest victim in America. LOL.
What’s going on! reddit is where I hear about everything and these comments suck lol no info
I’m curious about these things: Does he no longer like Dilbert because Dilbert is no longer funny, or does he no longer like Dilbert because of the creator’s social media posts?
There’s a post on another thread from the son of a guy who worked for the comic strip company that supplied Dilbert and other comics to papers across the country. According to the dad, Adams was always trouble.
Ok to Like the comics but not the guy ??
I’m confused what’s happened?
There’s a skit by the comedy group ‘Viva La Dirt League’. Totally unrelated. It has the clueless manager of the store thinking ‘noise cancelling headphones’ make it so *other* people can’t hear you, and keeps on putting them on to say nasty things about customers, co-workers, etc while they’re in earshot.
That’s what it’s like being old enough to see the rise of social media. It’s like seeing everyone put on noise cancelling headphones and thinking no one can hear them post these unfiltered thoughts and opinions online, while they are unable to hear the attempts by people around them to tell them that’s the *exact opposite* of how social media works.
And yes, I understand the irony of me posting this on social media.
I used to like the Dilbert comic and I still do tho I have not seen one in a few years. But because of his remarks and the things he believes I won’t buy anything more that benefits him. I suppose he’s entitled to his opinion but I’m also entitled to spend my money to support people who value everyone.
I never understood why his tie was like that
I’m currently reading 1989 Dilbert and it’s fun. It’s a pity that authors don’t share their characters morals.
it’s astonishing to me that Scott Adams doesn’t realize he was the luckiest man on the planet that he was able to generate a fortune with dilbert. classic boner.
There should be a variant of the Darwin Awards, called the “Cultural Darwin Awards”, for people who remove themselves from the cultural gene pool.
Adams has completely removed himself. His books are going into dumpsters and he’ll never be in a newspaper again.
Prior winners? Cat Stevens, for one. Kevin Spacey. Will Smith?
I rejoice, knowing Catbert is finally out of a job.
I always though Scott Adams was Dilbert, but it turns out he was the boss.
His nasally voice must come for the deviation of his septum from the binges in 89’, when exceptional art wasn’t needed for comic strips but the ability to make mediocrity shine through a corporate culture.
We wouldn’t know genuine racism if it slapped our faces and called us white supremists.
Hating on Scott Adams has become the current thing. The next current thing will be along in 15 minutes.
It’s kind of sad to see this really I’ve always enjoy the Dilbert comics but It is so hard to not ha e the art tainted by the artist
I never understood Dilbert, never found it funny. And even if you’re right-wing conservative whatever, Scott Adams is just obnoxious. He seems to have a massive ego.
Dilbert comics are still good
OJ Simspsons football career was still good
Bill Cosby is still a legendary comic
Fight me
Does this mean garfield will get an additional spot in the comics? I wouldnt complain about more garfield
I remember I used to always buy the Dilbert mints. They were really good!
What did he say?
I knew Adams went off the deep end years ago, and probably always was. But damn I liked Dilbert and how low key smart it was in the approach. However, if I find out Bill Watterson is a sociopathic racist then I’m not sure what I’ll do. Dilbert is discardable, C&H is not.
Edit. Spelling
I’ve been using a Dilbert book for the last 10 years to level a speaker in my living room, seems like I was ahead of the game
Isn’t this like the third time though? I feel like he goes on his little rants every few years, people cancel him, people forget about his rant, Dilbert is back in action, and then Scott Adams opens his mouth again.
He’s set for life still though and if he has kids they are set for life too. Estimated worth of 75 million around 38 times the average lifetime earnings of someone over a 40 year career
