I believe it’s said somewhere that the mainline games with Peach being kidnapped are like a theater show, and the golf/carting/etc is the real them and everyone is actually all friends. That’s how I choose to believe it.
My headcannon is that bowser is not invited to the karts, but he appears there regardless to prove to peach he is the best racer. They just accept it because it’d be more of a pain to kick him out than to ignore him
