Everyone always talks about Romeo & Juliet. My school didn’t show this version, and we were instead made to watch the modernized Leonardo DiCaprio version, so I never really knew of this version until an ex gf showed me in college. However, I first saw her in her adulthood in the film “Black Christmas”, one of my dads favorite movies. Oh man was I gushing over her in that film.
She looks like a little girl. Which really puts all the melodramatics of the story into perspective. They’re just dumb teenagers doing dumb teenager things that had serious consequences.
I saw the Zefferreli Romeo and Juliet in 9th grade in the late 70s.
The kind where they had to roll in the TV on a cart and the film was on a reel.
I used to say that the girls were all about Leonard Whiting while the boys were all about Olivia Hussey, but now I realize everyone in class was probably having different awakenings. Probably some kids fell in love with both of them.
I remember watching this movie in high school. (1992) The teacher told everyone there was nudity and to act like adults when it happens. We were all shocked to see boobs in a catholic school setting.
Watched this in 7th grade in Catholic School in the mid 90s. Teacher knew boobies were coming up. The teacher was fast forwarding (VHS tape) through the spicy scene to avoid the boobies. She stopped right on the boobies and she screamed. Everyone gasped and the guys cheered. What a time.
I wonder if this is still happening. Back in 1979, our teacher covered the lens of the projector with his hand during the scene. To a bunch of 15 year olds, this movie seemed ancient. Knowing now that it was made only 11 years earlier, I realize it was practically new.
Of course, as wrong as underage nudity is, it was far more artistic than Brooke Shields in Pretty Baby that most of the boys in class had already seen on HBO.
We watched this movie in my freshman honors English class. The teacher announced to the class that none of the girls in our class would ever be as beautiful as Olivia Hussey. Um okay lady, strange way to introduce the movie.
My 9th grade English teacher put a piece of paper over the screen for “that scene” halfway through the cheap scotch tape couldn’t hold and the paper fell. Never seen a 40 something year old lady sprint like that before to grab the paper
We used to watch this as a class in grade school. Anytime there was nudity the teacher would pop up, stretch his arms out and proclaim he needed to get his blood flowing.
Great in Black Christmas.
So pretty.
She was only 15 when she played Juliet, fellas.
Had such a crush on her when we watched this movie in 9th grade
Her Romeo was hot too!
Leonard Whiting as Romeo

I love this version of Romeo & Juliet!
She was the first Juliet I ever saw, I was 12 in the late 70s & I still adore her to this day…First time I ever really understood Shakespeare too.
Also the voice of Kasan Moor for all you Rogue Squadron fans out there
Oh yeah and from this movie totally had a crush when I was 16
The only version I truly loved 🥰
I remember her from Ivanhoe, you know the movie we watch every New Year’s day in Sweden that Sam Neill love to Twitter about.
Boobs. We had to get our parents to sign a permission slip before we could watch this in 9th grade.
I feel as though this is a subtle troll post… OP knows what’s going to happen.
I think she played Topanga’s mother or aunt or something on Boy Meets World. Gorgeous lady.

I remember seeing this freshman year. I was blown away by how incredibly beautiful she was! I wanted to BE her!
So she was 16 in this movie?
She aged gracefully
Hot take:
Euros aren’t hung up on nudity. It’s a part of normal life.
When I saw this movie I thought she was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. Her face is literally perfect!

My Juliette, always.
Thanks Zefirelli!

Someone mentioned her age in the pic and multiple people have deleted comments lol.
I just love that hairstyle. Part down the middle, long long long straight hair, no bangs. It’s gorgeous.

when I was a little kid, i couldn’t imagine a prettier girl.
What a hussy! /s
gorgeous woman
My teacher did a very funny (and not serious attempt) to cover up the screen while the “scene” was playing. We were crying laughing. Great teacher
The Zeffirelli version of Romeo & Juliet is still the best!!!

The only boobs they ever showed me in school, and they were underage.
I saw her boobies in a movie a long time ago.
Such a great film, then and now.

One of the most beautiful women ever to grace the earth!
My mums told me she saw this film with her mom at the movies 🍿 😊😊😊 she was around 12
She doesn’t look like a Hussey.
Apparently she and the actor who played Romeo were treated atrociously!
Oh my lord, does this bring back memories…
Hussey
Watched this in 9th grade English class. The teacher help a big piece of cardboard in front of the tv during the nude scenes. Mr. Paratore.
My 6th grade class walked to the local Silver Spring, Md theater in 1972 to watch this movie.
