When I was a kid, WW2 seemed like a long time ago. My *grandfather* fought in it! It was *ages* ago!
I grew up in the 80s. It was literally just 40 years before. That’s like… nothing.
I’m in my 40s now, which means in my lifespan I have *doubled* how long ago WW2 was. If it was history to me, it must be *ancient* history to the new generation.
“That 70s Show” came out in 98. Which means right now is a good time to make “That 90s Show” for it to be just as retro.
My (35f) husband (25m) tried to argue that Nirvana was emo when we were dating. And Linkin Park. Like Linkin Park I’ll give you more than Nirvana. But honestly, just no.
I went back to my hometown like 12 years ago and turned on the classic rock station I used to listen to as a kid where they’d play Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton and they were playing soundgarden and nirvana lmaooo what a cold slap in the face of reality
I do think that the term “classic rock” refers more to a style of music than a specific time period. Like, you wouldn’t think of a band like Pantera as classic rock, despite being founded in 1981.
Classic rock is a genre that is frozen in time, it’s a sound, it doesn’t refer to an age anymore, if Led Zeppelin made a new song today that sounded like their old stuff it would be classic rock
>!I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!!<
all aboard the train!!! Next stop: r/ComedyCemetery
No, the Animals were…
That dab.
I’ve been told slayer is a dad rock and when I wear one of their shirts people say it’s a rad shirt but have never heard of the band ^life ^is ^hard
Ok, i did not open reddit this morning just to be personally attacked
How did her sleeves grow tho
“I like hip hop too. But your playlist is a little too old school.”
I remember a “Kids React” to metal music. One girl is listening to Disturbed and says “My dad listens to this.” That’s when I felt old.
This comic is old enough to be considered classic rock.
WTF… no Beatles??
Oh no, this is r/okboomer but the opposite, r/okzoomer?

I started feeling old when Green Day was being played on my local classic rock station. I call shenanigans

The dad is thinking he should have pulled out.
And I’m sitting here listening to The Guess Who…. lol
“Oldies” are Richie Valens, Bill Haley and the Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis. . . .
Low key blink 182 is “dad rock” even though it’s pop punk it just fits into that criteria. I love blink though
Nah cause I’m 14 and I completely agree w/ the dad
Is dad getting older or drunker?
I remember the first time I heard a Chili Peppers song play on the classic rock station in a waiting room. I felt so sad and old.

Technically oldies would be pre-British invasion.
But it’s funny how it changes.
Like how it was veteran and vintage cars.. and I had a calendar in the 90s of “not yet classics” that had a 68 Camaro as the first image.
what’s with these homies
I’ve reached the point in my life where I stopped recognizing the songs they play at the grocery store and started remembering them.
Yep. I’m currently coming to terms with hearing music I listened to in high school on the classic rock station.
I got into classic rock when I was 14.
A 14 year old today was born in 2008. *Nevermind* by Nirvana and *Blue Album* by Weezer would’ve come out 17 years before they were born.
I was born in 1992. 17 years before that is 1975…which is what I consider classic rock.
Fuck.
weezer👍
fucking children
I feel attacked right now.
I laughed at this joke, then it dawned on me…
“When did Mötley Crüe become classic rock?!”
My 3 year old’s favorite song is Juke Box Hero. The first time I heard that song was when I was a kid on cassette in my dads truck. My job is done.
Local oldies station had a policy that when a song hit twenty years it went into rotation. I associated oldies with 60s and into the 70s as I grew up.
It hits me that today that same station would be 2002 so Avril Lavigne would be oldies for kids today.
Reluctant upvote because I’m old.

Referring Nirvana to classic rock is just asking for an ass whoopin.
