I just can’t handle black trauma films, I understand it’s necessary for people to know this story if they don’t already and to know the damage it caused. But as a black person myself, it just makes me utterly depressed
Based on peoples’ comments here, it seems like if you know the story, you probably don’t want to watch the movie. I’m definitely in that camp: what happened to Emmit Till needs to be known, but man, I don’t think I need to sit through a recreation of his life.
I feel like this movie is a response to all the Critical Race Theory bullshit. Not that CRT is bullshit, but it’s never been taught in our schools and is being used to erase the terrible things in our nations past so white people (like me!) don’t have to feel bad.
Like all the black history movies of the past dealt with a message of hope at the end. This movies is a mother standing over the bloated, battered corpse of her teenage son and oh, yeah, the bitch got away with it too!
The real event kicked a lot of people into action and made them realize they couldn’t be “decent people” and ignore the racism. Maybe this movie will do the same to some in this generation but fuck, how much more do they need to see.
I’m sorry. I’m tired. I can not and I will not be watching another film of black people suffering. If you’re going to make a movie about black people, make Static Shock or something.
I understand why these movies are made but the people that need to watch it won’t watch it anyway. Learning about this story when I was in the 7th grade was terrifying enough.
This seems like a bad idea for “entertainment”. You can just Google image the real thing and that’s way to effing much to handle. Is this gonna be like some fruitvale station slice of life stuff? I’d be down with that.
The movie is being described as a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14 year old son, Emmett Till.
oooof
This is going to be the saddest fucking movie knowing the truth about that bitch that got him killed.

I don’t think I can watch this movie. It’s an important story, but it’s just too sad.
I saw the pictures for the first time when I was a child. Watching media about it is such a haunting and angering experience for me
The recreation of it in Lovecraft Country was hard enough to get through
Wonder how it ends
Is this about the invention of cash registers? Sounds fun and lighthearted!

Now THIS is the story Tarantino should rewrite history for.
Edit: I should have said another, not like he failed with the others.
Hell yeah, Rammstein biopic!
I honestly don’t think I can sit through this one. Props to the filmmaker, I’m sure making it was not easy for anyone.
Just here before the mods lock this thread or remove it because it’s controversial.

Yeah that’s going to be a hard pass for me.
Every American’s duty to see this or read about it if preferred.
This should be known by every citizen.
I went to public school in the south. Slavery was a one sentence summation:
The Civil War was a fight for state’s rights.
The fight for civil rights portion of U.S. history was one hour of Rosa Parks, MLK, and there may have been a mention of freedom rights busses.
I had a great teacher. I’m sure his hands were tied by the state legislature. Pretty sure that little has changed in that regard.
I finally learned of Emmit Till and so many tragically horrifying deaths after James Byrd was dragged to death.
Ugh I’m not gonna be able to watch this 😢
Had he not been brutally murdered, Emmett Till would be celebrating his 81st birthday next Monday. History isn’t that long ago.
For anyone interested, there was Oscar nominated short film about Till a few years ago.

I first heard of the story of Emmett Till from a Bob Dylan [song](https://youtu.be/ivLSKE4wpRU). It is impactful stuff.
I just won’t be able to watch it. I hope it’s good.

I’m not ready to see this, but I’m glad people will know his story.
Absolutely avoiding this. Don’t need anymore black trauma movies in my life

Is this the next Jordan Peele horror movie or something?

A biopic about Rammstein’s lead singer! Neat!
haha oh my god are you fucking kidding? hahaha
