Been hearing some good stuff about this one from people in my Letterboxd circle that I know I can trust won’t overhype stuff as the scariest film ever made, or that it reduced them to a child-like state of crying and shidding themselves – looking at you, everyone reviewing ‘Skinamarink’.
Plot from IMDb:
> Four travelers encounter menacing phenomena while camping in a remote stretch of the Mojave Desert.
The poster looks nice and I’m always down to watch a well made found footage horror movie. I’ll tenatively put it on my watch list until I hear more about it.
There is too much disappointed reviews from people watching it on festivals, so yeah, I’m gonna skip it. For me “experimental horror” doesn’t mean “bad pacing and you can’t see shit on the screen”.
Cool promo material, but the proud roll call of critical hype from outlets I’ve barely heard of it at all should be the standard reminder to keep expections in check and not get carried away.
The movie will have light heart moments for the first 15 minutes to make you empathize with the characters while also understand their motivations. Then gradually the horror will increase with shaky cameras, digital distortion on the picture and audio, and the jump scare creature that is following them. Eventually the group dynamic fractures because of the Jump Scare so they start shouting and crying at each other. After most of the group is killed by the jump scare creature we are left with one final survivor running and crying until the are also killed by the Jump Scare. The end.

Been looking for this movie everywhere since IMDB says it got released in 2022. Why is the poster coming out now?

“This is what it sounds like when owls cry.”
Close your eyes/don’t close your eyes, make up your minds bird themed horror films!

Has anybody heard anything about a UK release?
Great poster, except for the eyes.

A tragic accident.
An uninsured driver.
Payback. This time, it’s for real.
