I’m ready to get downvoted but something a lot of people do is steal the most expensive item they can conceal (baby formula, razors, printer ink) and then try to return it for store credit.
I used to work at Walmart and they had exchange only policies on some of these items because people would do this so frequently.

The cost of theft is built into the price of goods being sold. The people stealing baby food are raising the cost of baby food for other people. Preventing theft helps keep the price down.
